No, I dont believe that Everton are a racist club or I wouldn't still be a supporter. I try and go to as many matches at Goodison as possible. My normal target is 5 home games a season.

Anyway, most times I go, not a head is turned at seeing my hue of skin which is how I like it. But at the Derby game I was amused, rather than surprised at the amount of kids left gauping at me while I walked around.

OK, I do look like Howard off that Halifax advert but the point is, we need to get those many black / asian / ethnic supporters through the turnstiles on a regular basis.

Oh, the biggest head turner pre-match? the white cadillac with elvis headed family, and their son / daughter belting out Elvis tunes off key. Now that is over indulgence by parents, and I'd personally slap an asbo on them

that's really sad to hear. in the last 10 years everton have employed more and more black players and ofcourse 'super' was our first black captain. now we have howard, lescott, yobo, anichebe, vaughan, yakubu and pienaar who are all coloured and you have to admit they represent the better players.

my wish is for a future where not just black but brown, yellow and white can all go to the match together without a second thought to the colour of skin under the everton jersey.

We've never really had a large black or asian support, which is sad really. Back in the 80s we definitely did have a a number of pricks supporting us who used to give out a lot of racist abuse to players and opposing fans. I think on the whole that that has changed. Funnily, Liverpool do seem to have a lot of black and asian supporters, all with London accents.

I'm a mixed race Evertonian and to be honest I haven't had any problems since the mid 90s. Racism will never go away but the lack of it at grounds is improving and especially at Goodison.

As the growth of black players increase so the racist decrease it would be nice to think they are a dying breed but sadly its more likely they are dormant waiting for some one to lead them

Nah you are looking at a resident population demographic. Liverpool has a very transient population due to being a big multiple university city among other things.
In the centre of town, in business areas, in businesses it is as mixed as anywhere else.
Some of the smaller suburbs are predominantely(not exclusively) white I suppose but no more so than other big cities.

I've discussed the lack of black people attending the game with the people I go with. Although lo and behold as soon as we started talking about it we did a quick headcount of the paddock and came up with 2 black people with a handful more turning up... so much for that observation like.
As far as Chinese etc there are loads around where I sit. Easily spotted as they usually get as close to the players warming up as possible and start posing for pictures.
Not seen any Indian people though.

Here in the US the team that is supported most by blacks are Arsenal No1, Utd is 2nd. The [Poor language removed] and Chelsea are distant 3rd and 4th in fan support among blacks.

I haven't met a black Evertonian in the states, of course I haven't met too many white ones either.

In America Everton is like Fulham (and their 3000 US players) America's plucky little brother. Everybody "likes" us: We actually have English players, Moyes is an ace manager, good fans etc. (I even know one [Poor language removed] fan who thinks they could have won the league by now if Moyes was their gaffer) but then they go back to lovin their big money fat cat teams.

there may not be many 'non-white' faces at goodison but i'll bet there are a hell of a lot more than 20 years ago, the club can only go so far in trying to promote themselves to different nationalities that are in the uk, it's then upto the ones that take the step and come to goodison to report back their findings to their communities/friends, if you have a good time and a bit of a laugh into the bargain then come again and bring a mate or your kids next time, if you hear a comment shouted at a player don't necessarily take it as racism that also includes yourself, it's an easy option to pick the 1st thing that stands out. the language i.e. swearing i think is probably a bit of an issue too to be honest, as we do tend to swear a lot, which i could well see people of other races being offended by, i've noticed when working that asian and african families are very polite and refrain from using expletives,their children put ours to shame to be honest.
**please note i have tried to be as pc as possible and in the use of the word 'they' i am not implying that we are any different, we are all evertonians.**

From a personal perspective colour is totally irrelevant and further to that anyone who supports Everton is my mate.

I will just relate this recent story - I did notice a guy going into the Spellow pre Derby County game sporting his Derby shirt - I must admit I thought it brave for a visiting fan to go right into the heart of one of our main pubs let alone a black guy. So, if this means anything it suggests to me that either he was extremely brave (and he did appear to be alone judging by there being no other DCFC fans in the vicinity) or things aren't quite as bad as some might think they are. He came out around 5 minutes later and hung around (outside) so I can only assume that nothing of note passed off - which is the way it should be! Now if someone had sported Man Utd colours we might have given him quite a bit of grief!

The level of Asian involvement in football is disturbingly low, especially when you see the numbers of people from the sub continent living in and around Lancashire and in the Midlands. We, as a sport, must try and get more Asians involved in the game but I understand that they form their own leagues in and around Burnley, Rochdale and Oldham which by its self is very unhealthy.

I could never put hand on heart and say that our club has never been racist nor could I say the same about any club in the land. Throughout my lifetime racism has been met and beaten, so lets make sure it stays that way

Before any one says that these Asian leagues are racist, they are in the same way as the religious leagues were. Lets hope we can all play together, after all we are all human beings
