Current Affairs No-kill, lab-grown meat to go on sale for first time

The difference between supermarket meat and high quality butcher's meat is substantial.

I'd be willing to try it but would have my reservations. I think people should eat less meat to have the highest quality they can afford. I'm struggling to imagine that at this relatively early stage of development it will be any more than a basic level of taste.

Although I also had a kebab last night so I don't always practice what I preach.

I thought this was pretty interesting so thought I'd share;

This bit struck me:

Can only be a good thing. Aside from the incredible cruelty of the industry, the environmental impact is immense. I don't know whether humanity has the will to make this more widespread, or the technology to expand it fast enough, but here's hoping it's the start of something.

I have no problem with it in principle. There are many advantages to it.
The 'ickiness' of it will only be overcome by having it on shelves and trying it so this is good news.

I've been eating Gardein stuff for a bit now. We don't really eat red meat as she's not allowed for medical reasons. I'm ok with the meatless options so I don't think I'd be needing lab grown weirdness.

This post was brought to you by Gardein

One of the jobs I used to do,brought us to a battery chicken farm,it was the stuff of nightmares,most you could class them as fowl they were deformed,almost featherless and the the place stunk to high heaven,with this job I had helped unblock main sewer drains,chemical tankers etc,nothing made me feel as ill as that chicken place

I'd be more willing to eat things like quorn if it was financially beneficial as well. Costs the same as normal beef mince for example so can't be bothered switching.

My wife has an allergy to all mammalian meat so she needed to find alternatives to that stuff. We looked at the Beyond burgers and such and then the Impossible burger meat. I'll tell you what, the Impossible one is quite good. Texture is a bit off but taste is damn close. Beyond is crap tho.

Meat substitutes are defo hit and miss. I really like a lot of Quorn stuff, their chicken nuggets are like McDonald's. And Linda McCartney sausages, my god
