No mein bull testorone friend, but it doesn't scream out "we must hire this man." Did they not then kick on further when he departed?

I'm open to all that aren't named Moyes, Howe, Hughes, Benitez, Arteta. Just assessing our options.

Two couple finals with a team that only just avoided relegation in 2015/16. I’m not saying he’s amazing I’m just happier being linked with him than some of the wank in the papers.

He’s no Marco Rose or papa Ralf.

He has a patchy record but he's rated as a manager by all accounts. I'd be happy with him personally.

He's no Carlo though.

Sickening isn't he?

Bill and his toe curling anecdotes...and his timing is terrible for an actor. No wonder he decided to produce.

I can see why you wouldn't rate him as a chairman/owner but by all accounts he's a great bloke.

Having said that, he sounds like he would fit right in!

“Kovac's team wowed Europe with a 7-2 rout of last year's beaten finalist Tottenham in the Champions League on Oct. 1, but struggled in every game since.

“It lost 2-1 at home to Hoffenheim in the following game and then drew 2-2 at struggling Augsburg. It failed to impress in narrow wins over Olympiakos (3-2 away), promoted Union Berlin (2-1 at home) and only barely scraped past second-division Bochum (2-1 away) in the German Cup last Tuesday.

“''It's not a huge surprise what happened,'' Bayern captain Manuel Neuer said of the defeat in Frankfurt. ''It's just not happening. Something has to change.''”

From what I read, he got the Bayern job because Bayern spent so long trying to persuade Jupp Heynkes to stay on full time.

Given how they treated him after serving up their best ever season, including absolutely destroying Barcelona in the Champions League. I am glad he strung them along before telling them to stuff it.

Funny thing is, people talk about the British managerial merry go round. There is now a European version, where managing any of the super clubs guarantees you spells around the big leagues, where you can turn in mediocre performances for years.

Just googled this salt and pepper hunk and will now fight to ensure his space in the Everton dugout

Seems like a goer to me and the atmosphere today would have helped. Fact find mission??? For what??? You don’t have a job

It's rarely just the manager's fault. They do deserve the lion's share of the blame in most cases, though.
I disagree. Under the DOF model the coach is usually carrying the can for the failings of the glorified chief scout. Said overpromoted individual can shift all the blame to the coach, which allows a toxic element to creep in at most clubs. Basically the players are allies of the DOF and back him over the coach.

It is a terrible, overrated model that is inferior to the manager system, as long as clubs back their man and said manager is competent.
