Sounds good to me...."

Once more, with feeling...

I see that health trusts in Scotland have also been infected, so as the NHS is a devolved competence I assume we must also blame Nichola Sturgeon, just for balance like.......

From what I've read the people behind this are asking for the ransom in Bitcoins. They do this because it is totally anonymous and no-one will ever know where the money ends up going to. I don't know much about Bitcoin but it seems like a licence for scams like this and money laundering. I can't understand why governments aren't getting it banned or controlled like any other financial dealing.

The NHS wanted to update their systems ages ago, at least a year ago if not more.

Government cuts put a stop to this so XP remained.

I've heard it mentioned that some in government hoped for this, to use as another excuse to bash it, despite it not being the fault of the NHS in the slightest.

Would not surprise me at all. Goes with what I've been saying about how they want to run it down and fail so they can accceralte privatisation claiming it's the only way it can be saved.

Who would want to take it on? The UK govt spend circa £120 Billion on it, and apparently, that isnt enough.

This suggestion/accusation has been doing the rounds for decades, yet still, it is a publicly funded, free at the point of use, NHS.

Guess is serves some folks conspiracy theories. Dont get the logic.

It's not really a conspiracy theory though mate. Will have to find the article but ministers like Jeremy hunt and others wrote a paper about selling off the NHS to be funded by American style health insurance. Not only that we see the likes of virgincare moving into this sector.

So yes they do want it to fail to sell it off but they have to be clever about it.

I am happy to have a friendly bet, that the core NHS services will never be in private hands. There will deffo be more use of the private sector to improve the place, and/or reduce costs, but any Government that actively pursues a mandate of privatising the whole barrel might as well jump off a cliff.

Like I said, it may suit some wings of political parties to paint a narrative that them nasty Tories will sell it off for their mates, the actual political reality is frankly, nonsensical.

sorry mate dont bet as im a compulsive gambler.

I agree its political suicide, but if carefully managed I can see how it will be done. To be honest I dont want see any of the private sector in the NHS running any of the services, but thats just me. Besides we have plenty of other things to paint them as nasty tories with, but that doesnt mean we should not keep an eye on them with regards the NHS.

Fair dos. Apologise if offended.

The private sector has been in the NHS for 40 years. *checks age*, yeah about right. In general, it has been in non medical areas; cleaning, catering, supplies, IT, (not that that has been a success mind). All sorts.

The practicalities, let alone the political issues, which you acknowledge would be suicidal, make privatisation of the NHS an absolute non starter. Which leads me to the view that the raising of it, as a political battle ground, is self serving, and scare mongering.

Mr Do, you defend the tories an awfully lot. Can we assume you're one of them?

Not really.

I was commenting on my knowledge of the early years of the privatisation on the NHS, which I know quite a lot about.

That being said, my upbringing makes it very difficult to support the sort of socialism espoused by the current Labour Party.

You're one of only two wingers I will accept and honour, along with @dandydan.
