In fairness they all do that. Labour used to blame Thatcher for stuff in the mid 2000's. I guess it works well for the people who vote blue or red no matter what as they will swallow anything their party hierarchy says. Like most things you listen to both and usually the truth is somewhere in the middle.

In many cases you'd be right - Government IT policy is bad and has been bad for ages - but this is something for which only they can be blamed; it happened under their watch, it hasn't happened in areas where they aren't in control of the NHS, they took a decision to remove what little support there was for XP, and they have spent the past fortnight insisting that only they can deliver competent government.

It is entirely fair to slate them for this incompetence.

Yep, Hunt is the man at the top and should politically carry the can. However, each of these Health Trusts have CEO's and COO's and they have operational control. If they have requested resources to address this issue and it was refused then the person responsible should be sacked. If however they have not requested resources to address this issue then they are culpable and should be sacked......
