Obviously the issues they had got exposed badly in the Super Bowl.Quoting Nick Sirianni now ffs![]()
At least we agree on that.. though lets be honest Kev, not all of them would've been blown away like KC were.Obviously the issues they had got exposed badly in the Super Bowl.
But then I think every team in the league would have lost to Philly on Sunday.
Well Buffalo have a vastly superior OL with a dangerous QB and Baltimore have a power running game so there are your 2 that would have kept it a bit closer. At least we agree on that though, lets be honest, not all of them would've been blown away like KC were.
The Bills and the Broncos literally beat the Chiefs this season though??Well Buffalo have a vastly superior OL with a dangerous QB and Baltimore have a power running game so there are your 2 that would have kept it a bit closer.
Neither of those would have beaten the Chiefs though and Philly beat us the in only way known to man to actually beat Mahomes
Create massive pressure with only the front 4 and drop the rest back.
In reality I think Philly are just about the only team in the league capable of it.
The Bills and the Broncos literally beat the Chiefs this season though??
AFC West team combined WLT records since 2015:Not true. It is actually the strongest. View attachment 294459
Quite the narrative there, reframing the Godfather of all beatings as a "triumph".Errr no
It was the ultimate triumph over adversity
go back and watch the highlights of yet another playoff-less season for the Bungles and compare that to this iteniration of the Chiefs. You would crawl over broken glass for that level of ‘failure’.Quite the narrative there, reframing the Godfather of all beatings as a "triumph".
Game was over halfway through the third quarter. That's not a "triumph" when you're on the losing end of it.
Broncos should've done the double over them. Divisional against the Texans should've been closer also.and from memory the chargers, bengals and raiders should have beat them, probably a few others too.
Looking back on the Chiefs season now it’s a miracle they got to the Super Bowl considering the adversity they faced
First the biggest acquisition in the off season, Hollywood Brown, goes down on his first catch of the year and he's essentially out for the whole season. Then they lose Rice in an early injury. Pacheco fractures a bone in his leg. They get Kareem Hunt off the sofa and immedietly ask him to run twenty times a game.
Worthy, a rookie receiver who's all of 170 lbs maybe, becomes the main target. Kelce starts to look old and slow.
Kingsley can't cut it, Morris can't cut it, Humphrey lasted all of one half against the Chargers. So they slide a short armed guard Joe Thuney to Mahomes blind side, and he holds up during both AFC playoff games.
It really is amazing that they only lost one real game in the regular season.
As I've thought about it over the past 48 hours, I think maybe that Buffalo game drained all the fight club out of the Chiefs. Nobody expected them to handle Buffalo again, and yet they did what they always do; send Josh Allen home.
It was probably the worst version of the Chiefs in the last 7 years, and look where we got.
Whatever they do in the offseason, they need to be aggressive. Which I think they will be. We saw what happened after the debacle with Sutton after 18 and they brought in Spags. They rebuilt the OL after the Super Bowl 55 disaster.
I think they will wn the AFC again next year.
They also went empty a ton! Not even a possibility of handing it off.I've watched the Superbowl a second time now and something really stands out: The Chiefs' offensive play calling in the first half makes no sense.
Why, when facing one of the two or three best pass rush units in the NFL, would you put your banged-up OL under immense pressure by dropping back to pass almost every time you have the ball?
Why not run the ball with Pacheco and Hunt? Give your OL the chance to play to it's strengths, and in doing so eliminate the risk of sacks and interceptions?
The Chiefs ran the ball on maybe four plays total in the first half. This gave the strongest part of the Eagles D way too many chances to win the game.
Madness.
EDIT: there was another thing that stood out. The refs penalising the Eagles long snapper every time the Eagles kicked a field goal, and the crowd calling the refs out for it.
