Next 5 seasons

think we can aim higher than that, you're forgetting (hopefully) how much our youngsters will be developing. Spurs' better players will surely be going soon because they are underachieviing massively with their squad. Chelsea will buy, arsenal are slipping, newcastle had a one season wonder and the red ****e well, they bought for the future and none of their future are all that. We will surely be getting a big investement in the next 5 years from one of our younger starlets, there's nothing wrong with being optimistic but i hope we will at least be putting up a good fight for top 4 within 5 years

Well, the last five seasons has gone: 5th 5th 8th 7th 7th...and the environemnt is getting tougher not easier.

Top four without a major change happening off-field is a pipe dream.

I'm going for nay, because I'm in a good mood and Moyes is going to flog Rodwell for £50m to City and we're going to buy Pienaar, Donovan and Dempsey and have no debt afterwards.

As Dave has pointed out, most season 7th would be good enough for Europe, which would make it more palatable. I'm one of those cautious types who thinks with the current board and financial restraints, it may very well be the best we can hope for which is depressing. But not nearly as depressing as a throw of the dice that doesn't work and ends up in a relegation battle.

I have to think on this some more, as Everton challenging for top 4 and trophies is what we all want obviously, but as Tubey said, i do fear an implosion, so I might go for the safe option...

If we don't get investment we are in trouble. We will be pining over the results this season if we are still being run by the current board and owner. The issue is, I don't think we are going to be bought by anyone anytime soon. I also don't want to rely too much on our youth because how many promising young players become full time BPL players?

No way we could have done much better this season with the squad we got. I am terrified of Europe. Our small squad would end up playing too many games. The squad would be worn down and we would see more injuries by mid season.....no doubt about it.

Taking all this into consideration I would take 7th over the next five seasons with our current financial situation.

If No results in "Correct Answer" and 6th spot+, then of course No. But the realist in me reluctantly went with Yes. Things could get a lot worse than 7th.

I would be interested to see a breakdown of results based on age. My intuition being that the older the supporter, the more Nos are recorded. That is a sad situation because it says the longer we go on as we are, the more people will be thinking this is acceptable.

Deffo, my main argument about Moyes is I wouldn't pay in bottle washers to watch most of the stuff he turns out.

City have proven beyond doubt the "money is all" argument, and with BK and chums here till it suits and our fanbase just accepting it, it's the most we're gonna get.

Similarly Swansea, Norwich, Newcastle, have proven you can play football, enjoy yourself and relatively speaking be successful.

We need to keep the momentum from the end of this season. From Christmas we would have been a top 4 team, we need some astute signings early to build on the last few months.

This is the toughest poll ever. I'm dying for a cheese on toast option tbf.

It's a dilemma. It seems like an easy one to bat away: why would anyone accept 7th for the next five seasons? Of course, it's the context that's important. We have a moribund board of directors who can offer us precisely fcuk all and a manager who offsets their retardation by getting consistently top half finishes but doesn't have the smarts to do better than that. Theres an equilibrium of sorts there, so I'm not surprised that many would accept the proposition. I also actually believe now that the club's status as a hard working, tough to beat and durable outfit is enough for most. There's a prestige to it and it gives people just enough satisfaction to put up with the lack of success.

If I'd posted this poll just three years ago, though, it'd have been laughed out of the forum.

It sounds defeatist to accept "only" 7th for 5 years, but we have to accept that we are where we are, financially. And where the PL is heading, (or indeed, has already arrived), as Citeh have proved, as did Chelsea. Rolling the dice is stupid, IMO, (Leeds anyone?). 7th for the next 5 years would mean we still have a club.

As it happens, I am pretty optimistic for next season, based on the last several months. (I know, the same happened most years recently). But, we have played very well, in the main, had some great results, and we are stable, ish, financially. By that, I mean we can service, just, the debts.

I know Bk gets a lot of stick on here, but as a wool who rarely gets to a game, it is hard to judge based on 8 minutes every week. What I cant get, is why the Director, Grantchester(?), who is worth £1.2 Billion cant be prepared to help out?

well id tweek it maybe 6th place odd european run few derby wins finish above the ****e and most of all a tony hibbert goal and deal is done!!!!

If we don't show an improvement than 7th plus no trophies sooner rather than later, moyes will walk.

Hell no.

If there's no chance of winning anything, where's the fun? Alright, mebbe winning the league is a long shot like, but there's always the chance............
