Things are bad, very bad indeed, but we are 10th and we have points in the bag. There is no doubt we have been fortunate in games, the sound of the balls striking our woodwork is testy you to this.
We have gathered up enough points and there are enough teams who are worse than us to ensure we are playing in the premiership next year but unless we sort ourselves out that may be it.
Overall we are in decline, we can't get much worse and stay in the top division.

So irrelevant of our form if the clubs below carry on in the same way they have been they won't catch us

Not sure if you are having a bad morning Tony but take off your blue-tinted glasses and have a look how seriously bad we actually are. I would love us to take a lot of points from the next 5 fixtures but at the present moment I cannot see it.

Bad enough that we are closer to 7th than the bottom 3

All fair points but my worry is the chopping and changing our gaffer keeps doing and criticising the players will not help the cause

mate come on, it's obvious he's changed the team that much with his eye on Palace next week

The team from Wed will start next game and that side is easily good enough to pick up points

Hopefully, you are correct but who knows what goes on in the wacky brain of Allardyce

The one that has us 10th since Allardyce took over? Or does it only suit you to pick a selection of games that focuses on being overly negative? Our form over the whole season has us 10th too. As @TonyS pointed out we have only lost to one side below us, and we face 4 sides below us in those next 5 games.

Further to that, since Allardyce has come in he has beaten Huddersfield, Newcastle, Swansea and Leicester. Only Bournemouth outside the top 6 have beaten us in that time and they are 9th.

Some are using the fact that we've faced 4 of the top 6 in our last 6 games to make out like that's going to be relevant to our chances against awful sides like Brighton and Palace. We got beat against the top sides under Koeman this season, and we've continued to do so under Allardyce because quite clearly we are nowhere near as good as them.

Lots of winnable games in there, We have a decent record against the teams below us and seem to do well against them at home

Will we pick up the 9 points we need to get to 40 in these 5 games or are we going to make a hash of it and drag this shambles on into the final part of the season
