How do you mean?

They decided against going for a forward, even with Kean and Walcott going.

I had no massive issue with Kean or Walcott leaving but even with them here we needed a really, really good option to come in and allow us to a) have a brilliant back-up and b) change shape/system when needed

With Kean or Walcott going we, at the very least, needed a player who could play in the front three positions competently.

We got nothing and the club actively told sources in the media (namely the Athletic lads) that they took the decision to go with Tosun as back up forward.

Within two games (suspension for Rich, injury for James) that has cost us massively.

Gomes is so frustratingly inconsistant and the difference between his good and bad form is incredibly extreme. So silky smooth and precise when he's on his game he looks top class. Yet when he's off form, he looks lost on the pitch and is continually misdirecting, underhitting or overhitting passes. Doesn't have pace or battling attitude to compensate either.
Agreed. Sadly, for every good game he has at least 4 or 5 stinkers.

He kept the ball moving. Lets face it, nobody in that midfield three had ANYONE to go to the entire game.

I'm not saying he's beckenbauer reborn, but he's an alright player despite being a complete nob.

he doesn’t keep it moving .. he takes like 8 touches and then passes backwards .. of when crossing he just drills it into someone for a throw and then takes the throw and throws it backwards ... he does nothing defensively or offensively.. he’s crap

Oh absolutely. Someone has let him go that's fine (I haven't watched it back again, quite frankly I wont watch Everton for another week now).

But focusing on Gomes his lack of awareness and how slow he in both movement and reaction is a huge problem.
The reaction is what has gone with the lad, never the quickest across the ground, but normally a step ahead in thought. Son has finished him for me

On the plus side Olsen looked calm and made a few good saves , reckon it would have been far worse with Pickford between the sticks , Delph Siggy Iwobi and Bernard just don’t cut it and need binning off ASAP

I don’t think I said I didn’t want him, if I did then I was venting

I’m saying questions need to be asked, he’s not untouchable, getting schooled by Steve Bruce is embarrassing, if not for Olson it could have been 4 - 1
Is it his first 11?

No.

Was today’s side mostly players who were not good enough with Marco Silva?

Yes.

So what’s needed is a bit of patience and a few transfer windows to replace deadwood entirely.

1 point out of 9 season for me is derailed.

We haven't the mentality to go on a 5+ game winning streak to make up for it and injuries leave us with the same cowards of last season dragging us back down the table.

You cant lose to Newcastle and Southampton and have hopes of finishing top 4 for me.

We currently have a good starting ten outfield players mate and any injuries / suspensions to any of those players throws the dynamics of the whole team out - as we saw today.

We`ve got four promising youngsters in, Branthwaite, Gibson, Godffrey and Nkounkou for the future.

We still have players in the squad who aren`t good enough and some of these players will unfortunately have to to play ( as we`ve seen today ) when the first choice players aren`t available.

This is why teams like City and the RS win things, as they have real squad depth, which we simply don`t have ( yet )

We are and still remain a work in progress.

Do you not think if we can see this, that one of the best managers in club football can`t ?

Who was there realistically to buy bar King? Anything would have been seen as a panic buy. At the same time if we’d have kept one of the two and they’d underperformed today then there would be moaning still

No it wouldn't, it would have been seen as a sensible move to strengthen a position we are clearly weak in.

We have nobody who is a natural right-sided winger in the squad, for example.

We should have moved for someone before October 5. It should have been Zaha, or if not, a player of that level of talent/potential. It was worth the financial risk.
