Brands needs to go ASAP. Having Carlo answer to someone who knows far less than him about football is bonkers.

Brands signings have held us back. Lots of rubbish ineffective technical players with no guts to play Premier league football.

The players make me angry. They aren't everton players.
I'm sorry (and I'm not saying this to defend Brands' recruitment, as that's another issue) but a manager's job is to get the best out of what is available to him, regardless of how poor that crop of players are.

Carlo got it so wrong today that, if it wasn't for the fact he is a serial winner, I would be questioning his suitability for Everton - I'm not, because it's Ancelotti BTW, but am making the point of just how abject he was today.

That was truly awful. Moyes was one-dimensional and boring, Martinez a fantasist who couldn't deal with reality, Koeman a clueless fool who wanted to spend more time on a golf course than a football pitch, Allardyce (as well as being a loathsome individual) perhaps the prime architect of agrictural anti-football and Silva was unwilling to adapt and seemed to say one thing and do another. Ancelotti is different gravy, but my word, today was as bad, if not worse than any of the above.

We all were looking at that teamsheet wondering how the hell we were lining up and who was playing where.

First mistake, when we were undone against Southampton due to a lack of pace, dynamism and aggression was leaving out Gordon - but to not play him at all??

Then he stacks the middle of the park and appears to have selected an out of form Gomes (who has never offered anything as an attacking player) as our most attacking midfielder. He makes Sigurdsson captain again?? Seems to have told N'Kounkou to take up position as a wing back - then never gets the team to pass to him when in space. Then he takes N'Kounkou off when we are lacking pace in the game for Bernard, who drifts inside and squashes all our CMs even closer together - so loses our only width. In doing so, he leaves the awful Delph on the pitch and makes him take up a full back position when he is too slow and can't cross when facing up against pacy opposition players.

Then to compound matters, he brings on the slow and useless Tosun for Gomes, who (at best) might scuff a chance IF we are getting balls into the box. But what it actually meant was, we brought on hair in a can to stand around upfront.

Then (bearing in mind he could still bring on Gordon) he takes off our other full back Kenny (who although playing very poorly) was our only width for the lump Iwobi. Meaning that we had no full backs- oh and surprise, surprise Fraser romps down that side to set up their second. And don't give me that nonsense about Iwobi creating our goal. It was a terrible ball and all about Dom's instincts that we scored.

In short, if it was possible to give a manager a -10 for selection and subs, I think that is the closest our manager has ever done to earning one. Yes our squad is awful but the defeat today against a terrible team is all about the manager. We've seen bad elevens win games of football and be competitive, but that . . .

And his only good move was to drop calamity Jordan and then I saw in a report that Ancelotti said before the game that it doesn't matter how Olsen plays, Pickford will be back in for the next game.

So surprised and disappointed by Carlo today.

Its a fair argument to ask why Brands was happy to rely on Tosun as forward back up. Good sides have options. Average sides like us have Iwobi and Bernard to come on.

He gets it wrong every summer.

You can't just buy 11 players destined for the first team and lob them in the mix. We wanted rid of siggy and looks like he said no. Without wages going how much headroom was there for a back ups to replace what we've lost through injury and suspensions?

The players we might have been able to get on the cheap may have been deemed on par with what we have. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Our aim this season is to crack the CL and hopefully silverware so we’re on track and are exactly where we want to be.

Yes the last two games are disappointing but that’s going to happen with the squad we have and the injuries/suspensions we’ve got to key players.
A good start has got a lot of people expecting to win evertime, its a long season and hopefully we can still match our preseason expectations.

Hi lads... a geordie here. I had a little peek at this forum after the match to see your reaction after this game.

In my opinion you didnt want to win this game, until you went 2 nil down. Played the ball across your back 4 most of the first half with hardly any attacking intent. Obviously you didnt have some of your best players but I was bemused by the squad selection, with so many cm's.

Newcastle arent in a great way and are lacking in a few areas as well as bruceys tactics at times, but to come on here and listen to some of your comments.. you'd think yous had won the league for the last 10 years in a row".

I thought wow you have such high expectations, perhaps its because you have been so good this year? So i had a look...

1-0 win at spurs.. played well, deserved the win

5-2 win at west brom - went a goal down twice in first half, then west brom went to 10 men on 45mins.

2-1 win at Palace, winning goal with a penalty :)

4-2 win at brighton

2-2 draw with Liverpool. VAR! Say no more!

2-0 loss to southampton

2-1 loss to newcastle

So my point is, really good results vs spurs and brighton, but other than that.. hardly liverpool of last season!

I think you need to settle down as today was as comfortable a game as we have had in a long time.. we also missed 2 chances which would have been scored any other day!

Good luck for the season! I genuinely hope you do something in the league to break up the big six.. just a few sour fans on here are laughable! P.s. some of your fans want ancelotti to walk!!! If hes not there neither will james, allan etc!

Hahaha

Settle down mate.

"I was bemused by the squad selection, with so many cm's"

We didn't have 5 first team players today - that's why.

Now jog on, and be sure to come back after the game at Goodison eh?...

He gets it wrong every summer.

Maybe there were no forwards available that Ancelotti wanted and Kean wanted to go ?

I doubt we’ll ever know, but I do agree that it’s left us wafer thin up front and at some point DCL will become unavailable.

If you look at our subs bench, give or take, it’s the very definition of average.

Even with our best team out we don’t really have anyone we can bring onto change the game.

When some of the bench players have to play for whatever reason, the team goes to rat.

Until this changes we’re always going to have poor periods of the season, like we’re seeing at the mo.

Maybe he thought we had more areas of concern (we did) and wanted to address those (he did)...you can't just change an entire squad around in 1 window.

TBF not buying someone just to make up the numbers is better management than we've had recently - Tosun, Walcott, Iwobi and various others have all been bought because of exactly that. Hopefully they've got someone in mind who actually will improve us.

To long winded for me m8.

Without the winner's in the squad able for selection we're back to that rubbish we saw today.

An in-form striker in DCL who did well on the rare occasions we got the ball near him, but we chose not to utilise. We had no attacking threat.

It's going to take a few season's to turn things around and truly challenge, so for now fingers crossed we get everyone back available soon and for the majority of the season.

We're winning it all. We all think because we signed Rodriguez we are the best team that has ever been assembled.

Well done on your win, maybe you need to settle down a bit getting worked up by Everton fans wumming you.

As if we needed any more proof , this match confirmed yet again , that as we all know our first XI is decent but the rest are just rubbish.

JJK is woeful. Sigurdsson , Gomes ( whose form seems to have dropped off the edge of a cliff ) Iwobi , Delph and Bernard were non existent. Tosun was laughable.

The only plus was Olsen who looks like a very good keeper.

I cannot though reconcile Carlo's pre and post match comment that JP will definately play v United nor his decision to play full backs as wide midfielders and midfielders as full backs.

I don't know what people actually expected we needed another striker, we needed to replace Pickford and we are also lacking in other areas, it's not like any of us thought players like Pickford, Tosun and Mina were quality players. We are currently a side capable of finishing in the Europa League places no higher. We were lucky with VAR against Liverpool for once, so arguably we should of lost 3 in a row, I've watched us eff things up so often, I'm really not surprised when we lose games like this.

I thought the players we had available today put in a good shift and I was made up with the effort put in. Our level of player has gone up this season and the luck will change with regards to injuries/ suspensions. Still in the mix and ready to kick on
