Win at City on New Years Day and we're provisionally safe, with our manager Carlo Ancelotti having a whole Jan transfer window ahead of him.

I never ever thought, as I gegged in on a fellow passenger's footy results back on Oct 5 after a flight to Sicily - and saw BURNLEY 1, EVERTON 0 - that I would be typing those words.

In fact sod that, I never thought I'd be typing those words circa 9.52pm on derby night.

Il punteggio...

MOTM: DCL - 9 rented mopeds out of 10
2nd: Holgate - 8.5 one-up mushrooms out of 10
3rd Sidibe - 7.5 ferraris smashed by kieron dyer out of 10

Forza Azzuri!

A great win and away from home! The whole team deserve praise for a job well done, even Keane did ok today. DCL is slowly proving his doubters wrong, just needs to continue to perform for the rest of the season.
i thought Holgate was superb today, looked calm under pressure and positionally was excellent. Another player who having been given a chance has grabbed it with both hands.
Oh and our new manager seems to be doing OK.

Steve Bruce being critical of the ref.... did he not notice the ridiculously soft foul (Walcott on Joelinton I think it was) that led to Newcastle's goal?

Anyways..... eleven points since the derby from Chelsea (H), Manchester United (A), Arsenal (H), Burnley (H) and Newcastle (A). Magnificent. Probably should be thirteen as well, given Arsenal were their for the taking.
If VAR had awarded us a penalty like it should have done we would have.

Blame the Ref for us been the better team overall lol

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce:
It is always frustrating when you think you don't deserve to get beaten. After getting back into the game we had a really good 20-25 minutes but then were caught by a suckerpunch. The effort and endeavour meant they didn't deserve to lose.
"We always said if Andy Carroll stays fit he is going to be a big asset for us. The big question is that one (fitness).
"We got our backsides kicked at Manchester United. Today we were punished for the referee's mistake. The players didn't deserve it but you have to accept it. Everton have transformed over the last few weeks.
"We are halfway there. We have done OK and given ourselves a nice platform for the second half of the season. We hope we can do better on the injury front. We hope that clears up.
"We have another home game next. The crowd were fantastic today. They responded and saw the team's resilience."

Great result, up to lofty 10th on 25 points, only 15 more needed for safety and 18 more games to play. We've got some tough games coming up against City and Liverpool, but then we have some winnable games against Brighton, west ham, newcastle, Watford and Palace
