Is it just me that doesn't like pre-season friendlies against clubs we already play all of the time? I get that it's probably more useful than playing Ludogorets or whoever but it's a bit dull, isn't it?

Apparently the reason for Murrayfield is for Newcastle to assess options for relocating whilst they develop/expand SJP.

Japan - sounded like this was going ahead after last December agreement with Nagoya Grampus however it’s gone very quiet on that now. For the distance there was only one game arranged and ideally needed to be two to make it worthwhile. (Roma did a similar trip under TFG during the pre 2022 mid season break for Qatar World Cup)

Germany - two games, possible teams are Freiburg (Merlin Röhl transfer) Karlsruhe (50 years since a EFC tour to Germany we played Karlsruhe plus two other teams Saarbrucken and Fortuna Düsseldorf)

Other rumours on Twitter/X suggest Italy the obvious would be Roma away although from a security/safety perspective that wouldn’t be very popular.

Imagine a really warm pre season game in Scotland Evertonians turn up in droves wearing the new season shirts. All optimistic and excited? Me neither.

Anyone going to Edinburgh , Mrs.dockroad and I can recommend the Premier Inn at Newcraighall just East of the city. Free on-site parking and next to a railway station , 13 minutes to Waverley. Good pub-type bars at the hotel.

Freiburg and Karlsruhe would be very nice, thank you. Good area for anyone planning a trip. (Freiburg is a great city and it's only a short train ride into the Black Forest. Close to French and Swiss borders.)
