Newcastle United -Everton at Murrayfield

2 English teams playing in Edinburgh doesn’t feel right.

Nor would, say, Chelsea v Spurs in Leeds or whatever.

But there’s something about invading a neighbouring country with its own separate league for a crappy summer friendly that smells a bit colonial to me.

CBA with that one, hotels stupid money because the Edinburgh Festival is on and it will be full of geordie divvies, hopefully the Germany games materialise.
You’d be better off staying in Glasgow and getting the train back. Right enough though. They’ll be plenty of geordies there on a boozer day trip. Only an hour and a half from newcastle on the train.

Premier inn, Larbert, £112 ,10 min walk to mainline station £12 day return to Edinburgh, Murrayfield is walking distance from Haymarket station.
Accommodation is expensive enough normally in Edinburgh but in August during the fringe it is scandalous.
Even the likes of Falkirk and Stirling are good, cheaper alternatives with cheap trains to and from Edinburgh plus they run later trains during the fringe.

I know its cool to be all cynical and dismissive of these things. buy I think this shows we are at least becoming a bit more commercial and box office.
Despite people claiming its Moyes choice to ring a few quid out of us for his family FFS!! (on the one had criticised for being one of the highest paid managers / on the other hand thinking they are interested in a few bucks from a one off game)

Or to suit preseason in Scotland..which I hope it is - the facilities at St Andrews Uni are world class and often used by Barca and other clubs for preseason

This game is being promoted by Scottish Rugby who obviously own Murrayfield, both clubs were invited (who knows who else they asked first) previous games have had The [Poor language removed] v Napoli, Rangers v Man U etc...we've been asked we said yes, maybe it means we can rinse a few more quid out of our stadium events before the season starts.

I don't really see how a single friendly in Scotland is seen as a step-up in profile... it seems like a big step down in profile terms from just last summer's US tour.
