Agree with everything said about what’s still left to play for and what “should” be achievable.

But given we all accept the league is turd this year, it’s pretty awful that if we lose today, we will only have 2 more points than we did last year after 28 games.

Throws a pee sodden bedsheet over the statements about how far we’ve come, club in transition, “the players have done great.”

4+ points from the next two games is non negotiable.

That's an eye opener. But that just underlines in spades what a terrible league this is now.

The standard has plummeted and so our ambitions have to reflect that and we need to reach out and take one of those last couple of euro spots.

Besides the point.

That's a game most teams can deploy when the time is needed to control games.

And the players we have like any other professional players in the PL can easily adapt to a passing game.
Sure, we can keep the ball, but the real issue is that we struggle to create chances against a low block, and we’re at our weakest the moment we lose possession and have to defend quick counter-attacks. Those factors make a possession-based approach pretty unsuitable for us right now.

Obviously, we should be dominating possession against teams like Accrington Stanley or other League Two sides, but that’s a completely different scenario compared to trying to play that way week in, week out in the Premier League.

You need to keep possession when you make the breakthrough. That's my point. Moyes cant do that because he's not a coach who trusts players with the ball.

Alright lads, let’s calm down a bit. Moyes has done a good job. Whether you like his playing style and the way he uses players is a separate discussion. In my opinion, a realistic and pragmatic approach is exactly right for the squad we have at our disposal. How many people honestly think that with the current players we should be playing a possession-based game, especially when nowadays even the very top teams build their play around transitions and counter-attacks?

He may not be the manager who takes the club to the next level, but with the current squad no one would. There is quality in midfield to play a possession-based game, but we also lack the collective ability to make a proper counter-press work when losing possession, and the defensive line is, frankly, in trouble when it comes to dealing with quick counter-attacks.
All that is fine, but it's rendered moot by his inability to simply pick his best players in their best positions. Moyes Out.

At the moment we've gone past the point of "Tactical Approach" with the lineups we throw out. We don't fit into either posession or quick transitional counter attacks.

We have a scratching head approach at the moment, which is why we are gradually grasping at the "old school Stoke approach" to try and bail us out.

Except we dont actually have a long throw specialist and we don't know how to utilise our height advantage..

Moyes Mk 2.0 -
