Here is the link to the grantland front page, where on the right the link is posted. Good to see an Everton event get such billing on an American site. For those unaware, Grantland is an ESPN site that has very good writing about sports and pop culture, with more footy content than one would think would exist on a Yank site.

Glorious, just glorious. He is an outstanding player. I honestly cannot remember the last time he had a bad game: he has had a few quiet games but not bad. I wouldn't swap him for anyone. Love him.

As this was only on ESPN3, which I don't get, I am elated that we won! Keep it coming, Blues.

THAT free-kick alone, should put to bed any further rumours of a £10 or £15 million bid from Man utd, chelsea or PSG!
£15 million would'nt get you his right ankle bone. there is'nt a better left back in european football, including Lahm, Alba and Coentrao, who by the way cost £24 million.

Heitinga - 2 - I think he won a header once, so he gets a point for that. And he was in the way of a shot on goal once too, so there's another. Other than that, it was the worst performance from a centre-half I can remember at Everton - including Kroldrup and the half-arsed version of Lescott. Truly garbage.

He gets 2 points for doing 2 things right? Why doesn't Baines get a 58-something then? ;-)

People always laugh at this (non Evertonians I mean) but he literally might be the world's best left back. Who's the competition? He's way ahead of Ashley Cole now... Alba's pretty damn good I suppose... I'd sooner have Baines than Marcelo/Coentrao. Lahm usually plays RB I think?

Other possibilities?

Heitinga is a liability. We struggled to cope with a series of long balls from Newcastle. Whenever the ball went near our box I felt like they were going to get a chance of some sorts, and that's what it has felt like all season.

Obviously, if we can keep outscoring the opposition then happy days, but over the course of a season, our shaky defence is going to bite us in the backside.
This is just plain wrong.

What mistake did he make? The first goal was Distin's fault. After that ...... what did he do wrong?

I believe he's been the best in the world for about 12 months, but without doubt he is right now.

It's just a shame that the way football media is, he'll never be mentioned in that sort of conversation (outside of EFC fans) while he's at Everton, no matter how much he deserves to be.
