Don't bother with slimming world. The whole slogan they have about free foods is nonsense. Potatoes are a free food but if you eat unlimited amounts you'll weight fifty stone.

Eat healthy fats, get plenty of protein, and eat less carbs. Don't try and eliminate them completely, aim for less than 100g of carbs per day. Try to reduce the amount of bread and other wheat based foods you eat (pasta). Eat carbs more after exercise, not before, it will encourage fat loss.

Don't worry overly about counting macronutrients aside from carbs, just try to eat whole, healthy foods as much as possible. Avoid processed sauces etc, so easy to make your own.

As Ijjy has mentioned The Body Coach has some good recipes and HIIT routines. I don't necessarily agree with all of his recipes but the majority are healthy and spot on.

HIIT is great as it can be as short as 15 minutes per day, but it is very strenuous. If you're not sweating like mad at the end of it you haven't worked hard enough !

Following on from my fruit for breakfast thread which was a huge hit, bit of a advice thread for me this one, any tips people know and advice for the average lazy person to get healthier without having to do much so to speak.

I'm eating slightly better now, and plan to start slimming world meals next monday. So will be eating meals designed to help you lose weight, healthier options etc. I'm not cutting out all bad things and just eating lettuce, i have 2 kids, it isn't realistic so just going out my way to eat fruit for breakfast (which i'm on my third week of btw) and eating better elsewhere just to cut out as many bad things rather than all bad things.

Exercise i used to get none whatsoever. Now i am walking a fair bit more. Walked round kenny and edge hill last week, walked from old swan home last night and walked for about 20 minutes or so this morning before i got on the bus. Raised my heart rate / broke a sweat doing it. So yeah, i'm trying to be a bit more active. I'm not going the gym, and i won't start going for a run but this is me going out my way to do something extra. Combining it with pokemon go as well, so walking is hatching the eggs over the distance, so a kind of distance measurer so to speak. I have been walking round town on my dinner as well rather than doing nothing so distance covered is much bigger than i was a week or so ago

So yeah, any tips i should follow? I'm not trying to be super healthy so if i want pasta or a packet of crisps then i'm not going to shirk in horror at them. Just avoid eating them when i can. going out my way for a bit more exercise as well. A few people have noticed i have lost weight just doing the fruit thing alone, although i wonder if they are hollow compliments to encourage me. Who knows? Either way, got my mind set on it at the minute so any little tips will be great.

oh and plan to start having @Bryan smoothie for breakfast as well.
Congrats mate. Have always been fortunate in that I don't really put weight on, but not by design. However I have always had dogs and usually Springers which need a good hike. Even in the worst weather (and I now live just outside Holmfirth so we get it) then the hounds always need a good walk. Get a dog would be my advice, the deal is thet get fed, a gòod walk and next thing they are an essential part of the family

The slimming world thing is a double edged sword. If you are paying them and going the whole hog then yes it kind of traps you in that system but just eating the meals that essentially have you swap things out for more healthy things is a good idea. I'm not going all fancy with it, just swap certain things out like and see if thst makes a difference.

The protein thing going to look into yeah for dinner. The time I eat fruit in the morning means it wears off so to speak at lunch and I start to feel hungry again. So if protein lunch curbs hunger and is good for me then why not.

I'd look into doing routines but as if right now I have a 2 year old watching teletubbies as she decided she was going to fall asleep and refuse to wake up at 4 so now wide away for the time being. If I get chance to I will have a look at perhaps give them a go , again opportunities permitting lol

Haha I have noticed since I have said I'm going out my way to walk more everyone is now telling me to jog. Don't think jogging in shoes and a tie is a good idea though haha

But yeah, walking out of my way rather than part of my day is my aim. Even 20 minutes extra before and after work and raise my heart rate doing it. Means I'm getting 40 minutes extra exercise than I was a week ago. Running up stairs as well should really have an effect as well but that is a occasional thing if I want my legs to work afterwards haha

All in good time. I probably will do and throw berries in or something. Just trying to at least get something good down me , healthy eating begins Monday anyway so really I shouldn't be arsed eating fruit til then lol

WHY would anyone want to be vegan?!

Seriously, I just don't get it. Just enjoy your life!

Not going to get into the whole debate on this topic, but in short, I'm enjoying my life now more than I ever have before.
I wouldn't push this 'fad' on anyone else (my other posts in this thread have been very tongue in cheek), and if you want to eat meat, good on ya. But the notion that you have to eat meat to enjoy life is absolutely absurd.

Living off beans on toast is not enjoying life either.
