I think I can relate to this thread a little.
At 5 foot 9 I think my ideal weight is around 80/82kg (sorry, where I live we work in kg not stones - but it's 12.7 stone), but I've always been a bit over that and had a bit of a belly. Over the past year, pretty much without realising it until I weighed myself a month ago, I've somehow put on 10kg (1.5 stone) and was horrified to look down and see 92.5kg (14.5 stone) staring back at me on the scales.
It's funny because the people I have told about how much I weigh were all genuinely shocked and couldn't believe it. I don't look fat, I play sport, I am quick on the football pitch, etc. But facts are facts and I don't want to weigh that much.
Determined to get back to my 'ideal' weight (and lose the belly) I've started doing a lot more sport and eating healthier over the past 3 weeks.
In work (it's hard because so many people are always bringing in sweets, chocolate, cakes, etc and it's right there in front of you the whole time) I have cut out the sweet stuff and have a salad, a roll and two cups of milky (1.5% fat) coffee a day, and that's it. So far it hasn't got too boring so not finding that too difficult. Occasionally treat myself to a piece of chocolate or two, but only if I am doing sport that evening.
I cycle to and from work every day, 9.5km each way (around 6 miles), and play 5 a side an hour a week,
do a one-hour spinning class where I burn around 820 calories in 45 minutes, and also an hour crossfit on a Tuesday evening. I also play squash for an hour a week.
Down to 88kg (13.8 stone) after 2.5 weeks, and determined to keep it up, reach my ideal weight of 12 and a half stone, and continue living healthily.
Oh yeah, also cut the beer out completely, big help.
