New Healthy Start

Really lame things like dusting and hoovering can burn a few calories particularly if you do it properly shifting furniture out he way etc......

Don't get the processed ready meals from slimming world.

Use fresh produce, make your own sauces for pasta etc, don't buy jarred stuff.

We are planning on doing the recipes stuff rather than the meal stuff. So it will all be freshly made rather than a microwave meal. We already do bits of it as well, bolognaise sauce is just tomato puree half the time rather than a jar of dolmio.

What worked for me was plenty of water, cutting down on snacking. Not banning yourself from treats. No fizzy drinks either.

That is generally what i am trying to do yeah. Silly to say i'm not eating crisps or anything unhealthy because for arguments sake, we might be on a trip out for the entire day and get home late and clearly won't be bothered cooking anything so we buy a bag of chips on the way in or something. I'm not after a weight loss now or within a short space of time, it is a long term thing i am trying to do, shift weight sure but do it at a slower pace as it is unrealistic to try to be all healthy.

Joking aside, identifying and eliminating bad eating habits will make a big difference.
My weakness at the moment is cans of pop - Individually not the end of the world but even one a day makes a big difference on the scales.

See that is what i want to avoid. I can't drink pop at all. Right now i have been getting a can of coke with my dinner. But my drink intake for the rest of the day is green teas and cups of water, often i drink a cup of water and then make a green tea to sit at my desk with. Just trying to get my water intake up a lot more than normal, whereas normally it would be 3-4 cups of coffee a day. I'm now down to one there as well.

I do HIIT workouts. They absolutely kill. BUT they do work when combined with a healthy diet.

What are they?

Walking won't shift weight unless you're really going at a pace.

Get a kettlebell & dvd and do that 2-3 times a week. Run. Don't eat after 6pm. Get a weight watchers / slimming world recipe book. Oh, and run.

15-20 minute interval training. High intensity heart attack inducing madness.

Look up The Body Coach on YouTube and try one of his beginner ones and see how you get on.
I can get intenstity training on the box in the house, was tempted to start that one day, probably wouldn't cope with the fitness test at the start of them haha

Also yoga, yoga any good or is it just not worth my time?

Don't get in til gone 6 most nights so would be hard for me to not eat after that point lol

Also the walking is just me trying to be active. I can't stress ernough how little i moved a week or 2 ago on a work day, even on my dinner i went from standing outside to sitting at my desk, whereas now walking round town.

So yeah, walking to raise my heart rate and even those little efforts combined with the better intake will start the slow changes. Because i am aware it will take a while, if i wanted them to be quick i'd do more about it lol

If indeed i have lost a little bit of weight simply by eating fruit for breakfast, then additional walking combined with healtheir teas and stuff means it should have a good impact on me

I'm eating slightly better now, and plan to start slimming world meals next monday. So will be eating meals designed to help you lose weight, healthier options etc. I'm not cutting out all bad things and just eating lettuce, i have 2 kids, it isn't realistic so just going out my way to eat fruit for breakfast (which i'm on my third week of btw) and eating better elsewhere just to cut out as many bad things rather than all bad things.

No reason why kids can't eat the same healthy meals as you. Check out this book. Me and mine have been using it for a few years now and it's got lots of great recipes for breakfast, snacks, main meals, desserts etc. I'm prepared to be proven wrong too, but I don't think I've come across a single lettuce in it either ;)

The kids don't eat junk food per ce but they don't and won't eat anything too mysterious. Well my son won't, he is fussy as they come.

Claims he doesn't like chicken these days, despite eating chicken nuggets. Swore for years he didn't like sweetcorn, now suddenly likes it etc you get the point.

Might have a look at that book though, if we are going to be in the kitchen then may as well be in it for both sets of food.

I am noticing the fruit is getting me hungry at just the right time of the day which is a good sign

I'll look up protein ones as well perhaps incorporate them into my lunch or something
