New Everton Stadium - Hill Dickinson Stadium

Arsenal were Champions in 2004, and Cup Winners in 2002, 2003 and 2005. They opened the Emirates Stadium in 2006.

Funds were taken by the construction and for eight years they went without a trophy. Their next trophies were the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015.

Although Wenger managed to keep them in the Champions League throughout this time, the fans were not happy!

At the moment, under the current regime, it does not make sense for Everton to waste their time in failing yet another new stadium pipe dream. Even if the project was realised lol , it would seriously harm Everton in the short-term, and the main beneficiaries would be Kenwright and Co. People expecting a new stadium under the current regime are going to be left disappointed because it is not going to happen. The new stadium will eventually come between 2020 -2030 under a new regime, and/or through a Commonwealth Games bid.
you know DAMN well that if Liverpool are awarded the Commonwealth Games, Liverpool will wind up getting the stadium..

Theres time for everything. Dont mind staying Goodison for now. Peeps are over reacting always when some team starts to construct.
Our time will come...and when it comes...People will cry.

Dont forget this is a period when there is so much money swishing about in the Premier and clubs will not have budgeted for it fully.

Also dont forget that business is short in construction et al so good prices should be gotten IF we had people capable of a business plan.

It wouldn't though. Not when they have just spent over 70 million pound doing Anfield up in the recent past. The new Anfield will probably be bigger than any Commonwealth Games stadium anyway, the RS wouldn't even want a stadium built for the Commonwealth Games.

And now they've won the Cup twice in a row, they're spending 40m every window on a player and look to be 2nd favourites this year. All that in a climate that has saw a ton of money pumped into Chelsea, Man U and Man City.

Where do you think they would be today if they where still playing in Highbury?

Competing for Europa League places with us, Spurs and Liverpool?

Now with West Ham getting a new stadium and Spurs and Liverpool soon to get one where do you think we will be?

We can spend money now on the hope of breaking the top 4 or the certainty of building a stadium. In 5 years time only one route guarantees anything.

I don't get your point mate.

He's pointing out how Arsenal were set back as a result of their new stadium construction. In Arsenal's case (who are up there with Man Utd and Barcelona tbh) they went from ruling the PL to not winning a trophy for eight years, which to Arsenal fans is seen as being a poor performance and unbefitting of their club.

But comparing Arsenal's new stadium development to Everton's current circumstances is a bit ridiculous because they are/were on another planet to us. How much did they get for selling Highbury? How much will we get for selling Goodison? When you do compare their situations it just becomes obvious that Arsenal and Everton's situations are considerably different.

I don't even want to see Kenwright's latest pretend effort to build a crap new stadium. With all these relatively small clubs like Stoke, West Ham, Swansea giving it the big one with their massive new TV revenues which can attract top notch foreign talent, the last thing we need to be doing is neglecting squad recruitment in favour of some knobhead project. It will be the next regime that sorts the stadium project out, not Bill Kenwright and Co.

It's simple. We would be fighting relegation an awful lot sooner than in 10 years time if we were to neglect the playing squad in order to build a new stadium. What increase in revenue can we expect from this super, duper new stadium? Even if everything went to plan, I believe we would only be looking at an extra 10 million per season, an extra 20 million at the absolute maximum.

People will argue that an extra 10 - 20 million pound a year allows you to buy an extra boss player each year, which is correct, but it would have come at the cost of depriving 60 - 100 million pounds worth of investment (they will borrow the rest) from the player recruitment budget over a 2 or 3 year period. This would happen at a time when the difference in prize money between 5th and 15th is considerable. I don't know exactly how much, but it would be no surprise to find out that the difference in prize money between 5th and 15th is greater than the supposed extra 10 million that might be realised in a new stadium.

We do need a new stadium. But if you have to pay for it out of revenue, then the construction is going to be at the expense of the team. I'm saying that fans can expect a dip in performance.

Arsenal have emerged from this difficult patch, and can now invest more in the team. Throughout this time, Arsenal have qualified for the Champions League and have come through their group too. But the fans have not been satisfied, and have called for Wenger to be sacked.

Everton would suffer a similar dip. The danger is not that Everton would not win anything, but that they would flirt with relegation. Everton fans are not happy now and would find it hard to bear. The manager would certainly face criticism and it would be a very difficult few years.

That's why I ask. What does an accountant know about building and financing a stadium? If Elstone isn't up to the job (which he isn't IMO), he needs sacking and replacing with someone who is

Won't happen. Kenwright needs a nodding dog and he is perfect
