Looking at that, the owners may be happy with missing out on European football this season as it would mean either spending more money on a bigger squad or potentially risk a relegation fight with a small squad, similar to Palace and Forest. Even Newcastle struggled.

But thats worrying if true as it shows a lack of ambition to actually be up there.

Also, im not sure that outlook helps attract a Glasner/Iraola. Thinking Moyes stays now.

Paddy Boylands opinion?
Not one single quote there from anybody.
The CEO is the owners man and we all saw his comments. He was patting himself on the back for a job well done as the season went down the drain.

Moyes said he didn't understand why fans would be frustrated with 13th and 3 points from an available 21.

It's extremely obvious that the club views mediocrity as success and is enormously out of touch with the average Evertonian.

From a piece in the Athletic. About as ambitious as me doing any gardening today. We will continue on our slow decline and irrelevancy under their ownership.

'Internally, there remained doubts over their suitability for a sustained charge at continental football and the squad’s ability to compete on numerous fronts next season. Everton were confident fringe players would be able to make an impact in the Conference League, but felt qualification for the Europa League would require considerable work on the squad.

There will be much focus on Moyes’ future, with the Scot heading into the final year of his deal this summer. All the indications so far suggest that TFG admires the job the 63-year-old has done until now and believes him to be a steadying influence.

The club will sit down to plot next steps, but there is a reluctance to do anything that would potentially jeopardise stability or throw them into what is expected to be a managerial merry-go-round across the industry this summer. There remains a desire to avoid emotional or impulsive decisions.'

This is absolutely laughable :

'Moyes remained wedded to the leaky central defensive partnership of James Tarkowski and Keane despite Everton conceding 14 goals in six games before facing Tottenham Hotspur on the final day. A desire to be more expansive in games has been seen as one reason for the increase in goals conceded.'

Must have missed the expansive football. Maybe it was only a desire and didn’t actually happen.

Excuses fc.

The minimum we should have got this season should have been Europe. Stuff the nonsense about whether it was the club's aim or not following a few years of trauma. We should be demanding Europe as a minimum. Everton Football Club.

Having been in the running this season and blew it big time, that is a failure on those involved.

Then to simply dismiss it, claiming it would it have been too much strain on next season or on the transfer window, shrug off the last 2 months (we had several chances to move up the table and blew it well before the final 2 months) and be blasé about finishing 13 is astonishing.

The club remain apathetic despite different owners and managers. We're still a joke of a club.
