Agreed, but they do they have overall responsibility of course as they appointed Kinnear. Wasn’t a lover of his last statement and the fact he wants to keep Moyes on so next season will be illustrative for me as to how much the owners value Kinnear as a CEO.

Fair mate.

I agree mate Angus is TFG man on the ground, he’s accountable to both the fans and TFG.

It begs the question on what was a reasonable ambition year on and of the pitch. On both counts we were coming from a low base - the club nearly went to the wall and team in recent seasons nearly tumbled down the leagues.

Year 1, the club looks to make record breaking income - I get the stadium is the driver but that seems to be, being managed well, commercials are going to be up. The owners have repaired the balance sheet and look like they are prepared to continue to invest.

On the pitch we are competitive for Europe up to the final few weeks - I thought we would be - but I would have been in the minority. But when an opportunity is there it’s natural people are dissapointed.

Year 1. We just fell short, but boats are rising in my opinion, progress made and the direction of travel looks like continued progress, I’m not dissatisfied year 1.

But objectively and on here is evidence, expectations have been erased and year 2, those expectations will have to met with new players, more progress and a take home - Europe, competitive for a trophy…..etc.

We’re about par to where I thought we’d be on and of the pitch this year.

Agree about the low base but given the second half of last season I’d hoped for improvement this season, even if it only consolidated loosely our ppg from Moyes games from last season which has deteriorated significantly with better midfield and attacking options.

We’ve not made any real improvement either in terms of player development, points or placing but when you actually look at all the metrics any gains have been marginal to say the least (even goals scored, goals against, possession etc). We could end up lower than last season as well if it goes wrong tomorrow.

They’ve enough people on the floor for them, in which you would have to be confident the message will be filtering back up the chain that fans are becoming restless.

Maybe a clear directive/ communication will come from the top once the season has finished.

If it doesn’t, I’ll also be changing my vote as I’m beginning to see some red flags…

A meaningful communication is required from them ASAP, and it needs to be from the Friedkin’s themselves

I do wonder whether the difference between the acquisition of ourselves and Roma is that they purchased the brand with Roma which is a club semi (if not) regularly in Europe with a recognisable name.

Whereas buying ourselves was possibly about a great deal for a club with potential but more strategically important in the PL, a widely recognised worldwide brand where the consensus between American owners is that TV rights deals have the potential to be a lot more monetised worldwide.

Therefore it wasn’t about the prestige of buying Everton as it was getting in the PL…

I had hoped with the investment on new players we could have finished above the likes of Brentford Bournemouth Brighton Fulham we could come Sunday finish below them and two newly promoted teams .I think branthwaites injury was a killer as well for us but I think the whole club has lacked any desire conviction and ambition to get into Europe and the two cup performances the less said the better

I think you've pretty much nailed it there Peter

I’d mitigate the metrics on the pitch by saying this is the most competitive PL in many years, last season you could pump Leicester and one or two others and results that bit more predictable - we undoubtedly got a new manager bounce as well.

While the end of the end season has been awfully dissapointing, the margins are fine a good result here or there and we’ve achieved Europe, so it is a different narrative IMO.

In reflection there were two periods that destroyed the season, marked by injury, absence and fatiuqe the run of ganes over Xmas New year from Burnley to Wolves and from Chelsea forward. Both times the squad had been found light, but also four to say rotation fold have been managed better also as a variable.

If I’m honest mate, a lot of our players aren’t good enough or are getting past their peak.

We’ve missed Branthwaite and Grealish at key times - but you also have to expect that, that could happen also.

Going into the season without full backs killed us also.

I think the fruits of our investment we will see more and more off, I have faith in the young players we’ve signed - if we both the with the plan to develop them - then I’m on board with bring patient while we’re doing that. It looks like it’s worked with Rohl already.

Obviously everyone understands that TFG aren’t negotiating with Micky Kegs’ agent direct from the Spitfire cockpit.

But they will set the parameters of what is acceptable and what is not - as well as supplying the funding where necessary.

We’ve chewed on the talking points of the playing season ad nauseam so I won’t rehash those.

I think it’s fair to say that from their side the appraisal will be satisfactory on the commercial revenue front, ok at best on the product side.

I think they need to be careful tho, as this team has a lot of holes that need plugging, as we have seen not just end of season, but also at the start and during Afcon.

Everyone assumes stability as a given, but It’s not hard to imagine that, with another summer of targets missed, we could once more find ourselves on the slide.

So yes, while you could make individual cases for renewing Tarkowski, Keane and Mykolenko - the fact that we are seemingly retaining all three for next season is cause for concern to me.

Hopefully events will prove me wrong.

Mate, we finished 13th last season on 40 points. We will more than likely finish this season in 13th and on 49 points.

I'm really not sure how that represents 'progress' - especially with having spent £110M last summer and had another 12,000 fans cheering the team on at home game.

I think the world you're struggling to reach for is 'stagnation'.

And no, the PL is not 'more competitive this season: 9 other clubs were bogged down in Europe and Newcastle, Spurs and Chelseas have all fallen far from where they should have been and the opportunity was there in an UNCOMPETITIVE season to get deep into the top half and hoover one of those Euro spots up along with the mighty Brentford, Bournemouth and Brighton.

TFG have had a terrible first season here...apart from the cash they took off fans.

But conceivably we could finish on 52 when probably anything from 52 to 55 gets Europe mate, I expected to compete for these place and we have, I’d hoped with be in and around Brighton and Bournemouth and had a punchers chance of over taking them, we’ve just fallen short.

The fact that Newcastle, Spurs, Chelsea etc have found it difficult just illustrates my point, the league this year has been really competitive, anyone could beat anyone.

I’ll accept though if we don’t finish in the top 10, we’ve under performed.

1/ we wont get 52 points
2/ so what if we do - 4 poinits further forward. that is not significant.
3/ we didnlt compete for Euro places, because the season is 38 games and this team fell away like the bottlers they are and the manager did f.a. to stop it happening - his job at the end of the day

1) I just brought Richalison into my FPL team, so Sours are going down.
2) Every place in worth £3 mill, we could make £6mill tomorrow and finish in the top 20.
3) I agree on players to many aren’t good enough and ha had for a long time a reductive mindset. Part of the transition is the manager rooting out that culture again. He did it before 1.0 we use to down tools from Easter forward, he eradicated that.

He made a very good point yesterday Villa played 60 + games this season and don’t look tired, we played 40.

He has just handed Mykolenko, Keane, and Tarkowski new contracts. He gave Seamus another year last summer.

Our players are exhausted because he uses the fewest squad players of any manager in the league.

The issue here is pointing in one direction very squarely...at the manager.

Get him gone. Yesterday's man will always have us a penny short and a day late.
