How much do you think would need to be invested under the right manager for us to cement a place in the top 6 ?

For me, £300mil.

I dont think thats much different to what they need at Roma for top 4 there.
Summer spending in Seria A last year was 50% less than the PL, think Juventus topped it at about 160, so 300 would do some real business.

As to us, honestly, dunno. Think we're going to need to strike gold a couple of times, like proper Branthwaite level or better to get top 6.

I'm looking at getting into the top half as a big success for the next few years.

To be fair we've spent that much on crap in recent years. It's the bargain basement shrewd signings who come good at Everton. It's the choosing of the right team off the pitch he needs to get right first....or he'll find out how Moshiri feels very quickly.👍

Id say £300mil over the next few years.

Need to strike gold with another couple of top defenders, midfielders and wingers. Wont be easy but easier with money.

Thelwell did well focusing on the youth signings in the summer. If we focus on u21 players then even if were not spending enormous amounts for the first team we could bring in some key long term additions.

If TFG were to give Thelwell a decent budget for the academy transfers then...that may mean some top talent coming in.

I don't believe we need mega bucks spending to gatecrash the European places, even if we had the freedom.

The recruitment needs to be very, very good if not almost flawless. I want to see our players being linked to the big clubs, it would mean we have quality in the side. Let them then pay us the ransom if they want them and we reinvest that cash, or ideally young players decide their futures are here.

I want to see us with a team of younger, faster, more athletic box to box players, not least with a few that might actually have it in them to play.

We just have to get to the better ones first whilst they are cheaper and virtual unknowns. TFG aren't going to be spending their way to that, by and large, at least not in the medium term. It's their job to put the structure in place where what they do spend achieves maximum value.

They're very lucky in a sense because a lot of our expensively paid but crap players are out of contract in a few months. A fantastic opportunity to rebuild under a new manager and Director of Football if they deem one necessary.

Trying to get shut of very expensive panic bought deadwood. Bar Gordon,Digne, Richie and Onana we were pleased to see the back of them.

The whole dimension of the club will change.

A: Weve seen Thelwell bring in a significant number of players for the youth teams last summer. The pick of which appear to be Benjamin, Clarke & Graham.

Imagine the growth he could implement with funds. Even £10mil a season would go a long way here in recruitment.

B: The stadium and training facilities are supposedly top notch. There was an article on Newcastle this week regarding their players e.g Gordon, Isak and Guimaraes being sold on a stadium and new training ground -- they are now 'unsettled' as it looks like those infrastructure projects wont happen during their contracts with the club.

C: Half our squad will be out of contract this summer. Some may be kept on low cost short term extenstions, nevertheless there is a massive opportunity to rebuild the team and squad.

These players are contracted beyond this season

2026:
Mykolenko
Garner
Tarkowski

2027
Branthwaite
Pickford
McNeil
Beto
Chermiti
Iroegbunam
Patterson
Armstrong
Dixon

2028
O'Brien

2029
Ndiaye

Some of these will also be sold. However this is only 14 players from e.g a 23 man squad.

We will need to spend significantly in January and the summer.

The opportunity to take this club to where it belongs in the top 6 is achievable with a focus on youth and infrastructure as well as a few key signings able to come in and take us to the next level.

Its going to be a rollercoaster.

Where have you been ha?

Can't believe we've spent the whole season waiting for this takeover to go through so we can bin Dyche off, and now that it's finally going through it seems like a lot of people are wanting/expecting Dyche to stay ? Have I missed a crucial piece of information?
Yes, you have.

Everton 4-0 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Title-Chasing Media Darlings and Deserving Winners Arsenal 0-0 Everton

While the bigger picture remains that Dyche is on borrowed time, those results may have bought him a temporary stay of execution. The aim for 2024/25 was always to stay up - 17th, to be precise. If the Friedkins have not already tapped up his replacement, then he will likely remain in situ at least until January and possibly until May. Why? It would appear that there is still a sense of belief that he can keep us up. When that falters - and it might do so as quickly as two heavy defeats to Chelsea and City, then the window of change opens again. Unless, as I said, the Friedkins have already done the deal in advance of the takeover.
