How long will they drag the Dibling saga on for before we get muscled out of it by spurs?

Just negotiate and get it done.
There isn’t a set entry time for other clubs you know? If Spurs come in for Dibling it won’t be because we took too long. They can pick up the phone at any minute.

Also, his agent will know who’s interested long before we’ve made our official bid.

No idea why people are so quick to judge them, the window hasnt closed, you dont judge 100m Sprinters after 50m, you wait till the end of the race.

I've been fairly relaxed over the whole thing, and I'm still of the opinion that we will get about 3 or 4 in before deadline day, and then 2 more on deadline day itself.

However, it's August now and we need at least one player who goes in straight in to the starting XI, and probably 2 more first choice. We need to be getting at least one in the starting XI for Leeds, others can be gradually introduced, and it does feel like we're running out of time and will not have one new face in the team for Leeds. Not ideal, and despite my relaxed demeanour about it all I'm starting to look at it now and think,' hmm, this far from ideal now.'

Put it this way, I'll be wetting the bed if we don't get at least one in by this time next week.

Yeah also pretty chill, but as you say, might start having to change my sheets if we dont have at least 1 with many more lined up for Roma.

To continue my analogy and to add fairness, we have just stumbled coming out of the blocks, do we recover?

Watch this space.
I think people are getting what constitutes a good window muddled up with what constitutes an ideal window.

Ideally, we’d have all our business done in June - or certainly by now. That’s just not feasible.

We’re trying to climb a few rungs on the ladder, and whether we like it or not, we need deadline day’s approach to force the issue with a lot players who are just out of our reasonable reach.

I think we all need to hold our nerve. I don’t see that we have an alternative, really - other than wailing in here day after day. Which plenty have decided is their preferred course of action.

Of course in a 100m sprint you don’t get bonus seconds (points) for where you are at 50 and 70m which is the slight flaw in the analogy. The make final judgement after the window shuts argument does not negate the validity of also judging whether or not we are ready game one. A well run transfer window would deliver success at both milestones, not just one.

Excellently put.

I don’t like the way the window is panning out so far, but there is still a month left and I’d be more cheesed off if the players we were reportedly interested in had moved to other clubs (unless I’ve forgotten someone). Other than the more affluent / rule bending clubs it feels like everyone is playing transfer chess at the minute.

The real skill is knowing which level of player to pitch ourselves at, and then successfully doing that.

You want a player seemingly just out of reach, but who you're able to persuade with skill and effort.

If it's not going to happen, you need to sense that quickly and move on.

It looks to me like Moyes had a list of instant players like McGinn and Grealish.

Weve now moved on.

Your assuming this is moyes v TFG...there's the whole recruitment department in between them.
Moyes could be firing his shots toward them, and for all we know TFG may also be giving them a kick up the backside.

The recruitment department that reports to Moyes and Kinnear?

Kinnear the one who provides the sign off on deals.

Leaving...Mr David Moyes.

Should have kept Thelwell for at least this summer

If they've made a mistake, it's giving Moyes too much of a say. He didn't want to work with a DOF so we got rid of Thelwell and the role. This wasn't the time to do it, just before a massive shakeup, with part of the team that is replacing Thelwell not even in post yet! Frankly i think it was bonkers and we should have given Thelwell an extension as soon as the takeover was completed and at least got through this season before we decided to do a complete 180.

It was total madness and a symptom of Moyes wanting full control of transfers, the same as he's always behaved.

Apparently though, out of Hammond, Kinnear and Moyes...hes not accountable as hes the one complaining.

Should be clear by now that hes the one who picked a list of players at the start of the summer.
