Don't think it was the pressure with Carlo. He just didn't care and used us a stepping stone. For Marco or Nuno Everton is a dream job.
I think managers have a shelf life just as players do and Carlo probably believed that his time at managing super clubs had come and gone.
Everton is a project and he was reconciled to that. He felt that he would develop the team over a period of years and was prepared for that
I don't think he was prepared for how difficult it is to manage a Premiership club that does not have a large squad of very talented players and at times just as the players struggled so did the manager.
Listening to Carlo during the season there is no doubt he felt he would get the club into Europe but he failed to do so and failed to get the best from some players.
The totally unexpected job at Madrid came up and he ran and took it before they could change their minds.
It says something about where Madrid are as well going back for a manager they previously sacked and it isn't as if he was a young manager learning his trade They have appointed and elderly manager who maybe was making his way down in terms of the size of the jobs being offered to him.
This is not a reflection on Everton just a fact.
He still could have done a good job at Everton and we will see this summer the size of budget that would have been available to him.
