You have labelled him deceitful. Not a decent person. Manipulative.
Of course you care. Your saying his personal conduct has been so poor he's not randomly brought up an apology about a comment he made despite there being no relevant need to bring it up. Like what situation could possibly have happened for him to bring it up in the last 15 years?
I stand behind all of those things. Simon Jordan intimated very similar things about him in the radio yesterday. Most owners in football who have worked with him feel the same. Indeed if you ask Steve Heighway his opinion of Benitez, privately, you will get a similar if a lot firmer reaction.
That's just an objective analysis of him.
I don't really care, but I am quite unprincipled in such matters. But I'm also reflexive enough to say that lots of other people will care and can acknowledge that is a reasonable response.
If people have a problem with his appointment, the onus is on him to put right what he has made wrong previously, that's all.
