Neville signs a year extension deal

Got no problem with Heitinga in midfield... but then I'm a big fan of 2 defensive mids. They can cover when the full backs go forward, and generally give freedom for others to attack.
The problem at the moment is that we have good footballers like Osman and Arteta playing deep, and then guys who cant keep the ball playing up front. Should be the other way round. Footballers up front and anti footballers towards the back.

The problem with Heitinga is that he is among the top earners at our club yet doesn't fit into our first choice eleven in any position and will throw a tantrum and be out the door as soon as a big club comes sniffing.

The more I contemplate this, the more I feel it's the worst news of the summer so far.

So, so much wasted money.

More of a waste than Billy? Or Heitinga? Or the stadium moves? Or blue nets when every fan has screaming for blue gravel?

In the scheme of things this is a complete none issue.

That's true, but doesn't make him a bad player.

bet it is written in has contract that he has got to be free to watch man u away games

Apparently Rooney asks for the Everton score as soon as he comes off at halftime, doesn't seem to bother United fans. I don't care if it's in Neville's contract he gets to watch Steve Round anally assault himself with a training cone to be honest. Although I bet it's one hell of a show.

just doesnt seem right seeing phil sitting in utd end, jose baxter got rightly told off moysey to stop going to the other crowds away games with his mates

Jesus. I like the guy but I don't think he should have been offered this contract extension. We wanna win games, to win games you must score. Seamus gives us attacking intent from RB whereas Neville, as much as I like him, gives us bugger all. Frustrating.

It's unusual but not an issue for me. He supports United and went the game, that's all there is too it really. If he sits with the fans I like that he doesn't think he's too celeb to sit in the stands, I know I was made up when Rhino was in the Gwalddy a while back.
As for Baxter now that I can understand because they are our local rivals and we don't have the anti-united feelings that Liverpool have. I'd be fuming if I saw Baines in the kop for example. Although I saw carragher at a few Everton reserve games when he was a first team player.

Just read all my posts again for what he gives us mate, my thumb couldn't cope writing it all again :)

Yeah good points mate. I wanna see us play attacking football though, and having a player on the pitch in a potentially attacking position who cannot attack seems like a total waste. For example, take the QPR game, his delivery was terrible. Not saying Coleman has great delivery but he can run at players and pass and move in a way Neville simply can't.

That's fair enough but I consider his abilities and experience still valuable to the squad. I expect him to be fazed gradually out of the first eleven and with Coleman's progress he probably does too. Setting aside off field value, in a squad our size his versatility comes in handy and unlike Heitinga for example is happy to provide cover where needed.
