We must disagree on this. I have binned blokes who have been stunning to look at but dull as ditchwater and been completely besotted by the less physically attractive who have a well developed sense of humour.

From a male perspective, having a sense of humour and demonstrating a willingness to listen usually achieves the desired results (or did 35 years ago) - win/win
