Need a Striker Now...

Have to agree with Ghost regarding development. Either a player has got it or he hasn't. Bear in mind if players did come good later Everton cannot wait!

Were doing all this inquest stuff when in reality it was just one of those games.

If we play like that, with the exact same team we'll snot someone soon.

Anichebe wasnt all that but was better than Cahill and Osman, we need to be looking at who comes in for them before we look at the striker.

Saha is back next week so its not too much of a worry in fairness.

I'll be honest, Vic didn't look like he was going to score today, but he didn't play that badly at all. I'm still quite disappointed with Timmy's performances...

I'd even go as far as to drop him, move Ossie in and have ShAndy on the wing, get a bit of width... he looked lively when he came on, and he lasted the duration far better than I expected..

Thats not a bad suggestion, I feel all dirty considering VDM for a start though. Get Kissock on.

Yeah Cahill has become one of the untouchables. That kind of thing happens when you score against Liverpool. I reckon if OJ Simpson had come on in the 1989 Cup Final and got there just ahead of Stuart McCall, he would have been [Poor language removed] laughing now. No problems with courts or legalities over did I or did I not murder that woman and her fella. I scored against Liverpool for Everton. Did you? [Poor language removed] me, don't worry about thing pal, your golden for the rest of this lifetime, and probably the next.

a chance fell to jags at the end of the game that I would put my life on Anichebe burying, Anichebe is good, he played well today, he needs a run of games and experience.

Good but not great. And certainly not good enough to be a current No.1 striker.
I think Moyse praised him for a confidence boost s we are stuck with him,not once did he receive the ball and I thought he we go not slagging him just do not think he will ever be a top class striker

I thought Vic did ok today, surely Saha will be back though!

You cant help bu think if the Yak was there today with some of the chances that went begging we may have been out of site.

I just felt he didn't make enough movements. He got in the way of a couple of headers, his control was lacking (notice the clumsy shin out for a goal kick). I also thought he could have been more in with a chance of getting on the end of Osman's ball, I mean he played in the perfect area, but Anichebe lacks in awareness and intelligence to get in the right areas.

I'm not going to say he was [Poor language removed], or that he's useless. He has his moments and can ruffle feathers, but as the main striker? he is not, and at 20 he should be looking to be that man, or move on.

He's not a goalscorer, I think that's quite obvious.

He bullied them in the first half though and his workrate set the tempo for the game. His hold up play was fine aswell.

The likes of Jutkiewicz and Agard aren't anywhere near as good to be honest, Vic is on a different level. Baxter isn't a centre forward either.

Hopefully Saha's back next week, we definatly need him.

Well how would we know what level they are on, we haven't seen them play at the same level as Vic, so unfair to make that assessment. Be nice to see them brought in for some experience though.

But work rate and bullying isnt good enough when you are paid to score goals.

Hardly been given a run of games has he?

Yakubu, Saha and Cahill have all struggled to score goals this season and they are quality players. Victor is a 20 year old leading the line on his own, it's going to be hard.

Ok, I have been watching football for a long time, used to play a lot when I was younger, and personally reckon I could have made it if I was pushed harder. But that's another story.

I like to think I know what makes a successful premiership striker. For example, the young lad at Spurs - Campbell, he has it already. Quality, desire, pace, ability all over. Anichebe doesn't have it. Regardless of whether or not he plays more games, if you don't have the ability you don't have it.

Ok he can be a striker like the lad at Fulham (not AJ), or Carlton Cole, Marlon Harewood. Average strikers, but nothing more. Or they can be like Cadamarteri who was quick and skillful, and with a bit of care could have been a legend. I really struggle to see what sets Anichebe out against the rest. He is a squad player at best. Someone who can come on when the defence is tired and he can bustle through, but against class defences he is going to do nothing.

Yakubu is a born finisher, Saha has an intelligent football brain. They don't need loads of games to show what they can do. They were doing it when they were in the teens, and you knew then that they are talent. Anichebe sadly doesn't possess that potential.

I wanted him to be good, when we lost Rooney I was desperate for something else. I was gutted when Danny said he had seen him play and he was average, then when he started to play in the seniors I kind of got the impression that he thought he was better than he was, and that he lacked many of the skills required.

However, he's all we have at the moment, so if he scores, good. But its not acceptable for a club like Everton to be in this position.
