How? How can you play well as a striker when you miss 4 genuinely great chances and you lose the game?

He didn't lose the game. The awful defending for their goal did.

I'm not defending him, but if he scored even one. We'd be saying he had a good game, because minus the goals he played quite well.

But I get your point and probably agree with you. He's got to score at least one.

No, him missing several chances cost us the game. You are defending him though and I don't understand why

You do not lose if you do not concede - it’s quite simple. Personally, Maupay didn’t played too badly, with some good movement and touches.

But, he needed to score today with the chances he had, which meant we couldn’t win and helped facilitate the situation where we lost.

At least two of the chances he had should have been goals.
