Thanks for the reply mate and thanks for the welcome.

I think £15m is a good fee for both parties. I don’t think you’ve overpaid and Brighton haven’t been stung either.

Maupay has been phased out somewhat and we have Undav now, who is essentially a direct replacement. In my opinion Maupay is a big improvement on your current options up front. He isn’t going to be a 30 goal man, but he’s a massive upgrade on Rondon - that’s for sure!

Personally I am not tribalistic when it comes to football. I just love the game and my club, without hating other teams. But don’t get me wrong, the Brighton/Palace rival is a big thing!
This fills me with glee, phased out by the mighty Brighton for another player I have not heard of, but one that presumably is better, so will do for us bottom dwellers.
FML is this where we are now?

Thanks mate and welcome to GOT. I’m non plussed on Maupay but haven’t seen enough so it’s with interest I read your assessment of him. Dare say £15m for a player you’re phasing out is received well amongst your fans?

Just a random question but how do you feel about Crystal Palace really?

As for Palace, Seagulls crap on Eagles all day long

Brighton fan here.

Neal is an out and out striker, his game is running in behind - and he will run all day long. His touch isn’t the best and he is pretty hopeless back to goal - but that isn’t his game. I am assuming he will be asked to play on the shoulder for you.

Maupay offers nothing in the air, as you’d expect given his height and build. What he does offer though is enthusiasm and a really good work rate- the guy runs his socks off every game. You will never feel short changed in effort with Neal.

The big problem, speaking as a Brighton fan exclusively based on my own experiences, is his finishing.

He gets himself in fantastic positions but often he looks lost when he’s right there in front of goal. Maupay runs his socks off - sometimes when a big chance comes to him, he blows it - personally I suspect it is because he is gassed from all the running.

Finally; the shithousery. If he’s yours, you’ll love him. Most football fans love having a “shithouse” as one of their own.

You’ve had a few players in recent years I don’t exactly admire for their sportsmanship, namely Richarlison and Gordon. Maupay is a wind up merchant and - personally I don’t like it. I appreciate every team needs some steel and attitude - Neal is often more worried about the opposition fans than his own game.

Any questions feel free to ask, or if you want to insult me, do that too! Cheers lads.

Thank you for your honest ,in depth feedback it is appreciated ;)

I am not a expert of the finer details regarding Maupay , but believe he,s played a number of games for Brighton , whom are doing alright with Potter
If I recall he can be a handful when I watched him so I am not dissing this link , could work out TBF
, we need a back up for Dom , window is nigh closing so see a number of strikers being linked with us ATM .

Pleasing to see you think we haven’t overpaid pal, something which we are the benchmark for since we “got rich” and got much worse. Seen you and a few others say he works hard and has some edge about him so if he turns out like a Steven Naismith for a few seasons then he’s an improvement on what we got.

Note to those who chased Naismith out because they said we’d outgrown him, I’ll come back to you at a later date.

Nice to see a reasonable approach to football rivalry too as if you said anything demeaning I was gonna tag in our resident Palace fan @Alan Whittle to try and drag you both in the Arena. Not that we can talk about rivalry as that would indicate any form of competitiveness with ours. As an Evertonian I hate Everton more than any other club.

You positive about this season for your bunch?
Boring content alert!

Don’t get me wrong I love my club - season ticket holder since I was 8. My dad died in hospital the same day we reached the Premier League. In fact, me telling him was our last conversation before we lost him. He took me to my first game at the Goldstone. He drove 150 miles round trip every week to Gillingham, to watch us come 23rd in Division 3.

So frankly, us being in the Premier League to me is dreamland. Us being genuinely good is absolutely bonkers.

If we finish in the top ten of the Premier League again, I will be absolutely delighted.

I am sorry if that sounds a bit twee or whatever, but Everton have always been a top club with huge support. It has been an astonishing turn of events!

He might bang in 15+ goals for you - time will tell ?

Maups is a very welcome addition to the squad. We desperately need a third attacking option though, plus a winger if and when Balding is sold.

So in summary:
*Poor first touch
*Not bad target man
*Can't head the ball
*Can't finish

√Works hard

Excellent.

Thanks for sharing those poignant moments on your Dad mate, that’s what it’s all about, right there.

To be honest Everton “getting rich” coincided with me falling out of love with Premier League as it’s just a billionaire’s playground now for egos and sportswashing. The league itself have stolen a game that didn’t belong to them, repackaged it and commercialised it, then sell it back to the fans at an extortionate price on a daily basis. Neither mind all the hype and hysteria from those narrating the league itself, media and tithead fans. Point being I’d probably enjoy those Gillingham days more than I do now.

Anyway rather than hog your replies I’ll leave you to the others on here, many of whom are lamentable entitled pant pissers but with a good heart. Stick around man.

Could you be bothered being this negative dunno why people bother
Actually yes. We've all waited all summer to get some forwards in, and this is the best we can do? Do you rate this guy? He scores a worldie every 6-8 games and misses easy chance after chance from what I've seen of him.

So he scores a worldie every 6-8 games yet he will make Rondon, who scores a tap in once every 38 games look a world beater lol

Makes me wonder how someone so bad by all accounts has managed to survive at a premier league club, playing regularly and scoring a lot more than our current strikers have, has survived in the Premier League.
Maybe his price reflects either this inability or his contract situation but I’m willing to support him if he plays
