I just don’t see the same Patterson that everyone thinks is awful. Sure he’s not a Hall of Famer. But with him there seems to be more emotion and less objectivity in analyzing his performance. We do have some players who, when they touch the ball, make me pucker up with worry. I just don’t place Patterson in that category.

His defensive positional sense is not good enough to be a full back at this level. He needs to improve significantly to be considered as our future option. I’d be looking for a first choice starting right back in summer. He needs to start every game from now until the end of the season to show something. If he’s not good enough in those games, move him on or loan him. If he shows something, the decision can be made on his role moving forward.
