2023/24 Nathan Patterson

Shouldn’t have been dropped after playing well at villa in the league cup - the treatment from the manager is baffling and must have shot the kids confidence to pieces.

Look at what happened at left back - young was keeping Myko out, but he’s probably our best player after getting solid minutes and game time - Patterson needs the same care and support - he will make mistakes but so what, Youngs is a walking disaster currently.

If Dyche picks young ahead of him again I’d be looking for a move asap if I was Patterson.
It’s completely bizarre to be picking Young at RB, he just doesn’t look like a full back, or even a defender, to me. We need more pace in that position.

Young being hopeless is enough of a reason to have at least given Patterson a run of games this season. He couldn’t possibly have performed any worse.
I dint think so. Young hasn't been terrible every game, he;s been own in a lot. But now his decision making in the box is terrible we cant get him out of the team quick enough.

Needs to be instrucing his agent to find him a move in January. There is no way whatsoever he is a worse option than Ashey Young, but our manager, in his attempt to relegate us, would rather play his friend despite knowing how much of a liability he is.

Patterson is third choice behind Young and Coleman - two players with a combined age of over 75. That alone ought to be reason to want out.

Now I don't think he's substantially better than either, but he's definitely a lot better than Young, and probably about as good as Coleman, but without the leadership qualities, so I can understand him being understudy to Seamus.

There is no justification at all for him constantly being behind Young, unless he's got a terrible attitude in training, but there has been no hint of that and he wouldn't be getting five minutes here or there if Dyche thought he was a bad influence on the squad.

It's all on the manager.

Dyche must think he's absolute garbage.
He obviously does, mind you, he thought Keane was better than Mina and Coady for most of his tenure last season. He has this strange trait of deciding a player who is obviously out of form or just finished, see Ashley Young, is an essential part of his team. He is then too stubborn to admit that he is wrong and continues to play them, hoping, I would imagine, that they miraculously become good.

When one of Dyche's favourites are in the team, no matter how badly they are playing, it is very difficult for another player to dislodge them. I'm far from convinced by Patterson, but, I've seen enough of both he and Young to know that Young should really not be playing ahead of him.

Yes.

The trouble with this analysis - which puts the emphasis on Dyche - is that ALL other Everton managers didn't fancy Patterson.
