With Coleman due back and Dyche clearly preferring Young as a RB too, the obvious thing to do is to send Patterson out on loan for the rest of the season.

Maybe finally he gets a lot of game time and gets some defensive skills too.

That HAS to be the sensible way forward here.

The lad needs it himself mate, we have to be fair to his development, i think we are letting him down to a degree.

You'd need a recall mind.

The lad needs games and game to game experience at this stage of his development.

He is better than you make him out to be.

But in the current situation, he does need a loan. Like Coleman did at his age.

He 100% needs it all that’s happening at the moment is his confidence probably being knocked, and being held back through lack of minutes. Thought he had done enough think it was villa game and then a couple of decent cameos to be given the nod ahead of young but no only gets in for a suspension then straight back to the bench. Look at antonee robinsons development from playing championship football that’s what Patterson’s missing out on.

He was very good in the first half of last season mate, he was developing over a run of games, thats the biggest thing for me - he needs games consistently to develop - hes never had that in his career. That shows and at this stage and at this level at his age hes actually inexperienced. Hes got chances and he just hasn't done enough to take it, thats not a criticism i think thats just his inexperience. Hes at times been targeted for the overload due to that inexperience as well at this level - but thats on us our lack of options and development of the lad.

We need to be able to look to him next season and for him and us he needa games and experience at this stage of his development to be a serious option next year, we need to be fair to him. He would benefit from being a first teamer at a lower level for the second half of the season, its a pith we are likely to be in relgatiton consideration becasue a lower PL lowaer would be ideal but prob not sensible, if he did go id be inserting a recall defo.

That’s exactly what I’ve said from the start he’s always needed the minutes very inexperienced and expected to wing it in the premier league with the state of our squad/club, he was never Rico lewis/ Trent levels or coming into a City or RS side was always going to be a struggle for him.

I was in two minds mate, but ive gotten there, at this stage we're doing the lad himself a disservice not letting him get experience and game to game experience of first team football and mins - at his age and two years into his contract he needs that now. Its self defeating for him and us.

He might need a loan (ideal world you probably would) but I’m sorry, we aren’t in a position to let him go if we have to rely on a diminishing Coleman, who’s not even back fully fit yet, and a failed geriatric winger as our rb options, or are you including Godfrey and Keane as rb options……

Patterson should be playing for us now, at least until we see what state Coleman is back in - he’s done no worse than Dyches favourite young, who shouldn’t be anywhere near the starting 11 on his recent performances.

We can't be doing that in another relegation threatened season. That would be absurd and a dereliction of duty by Dyche.

Recall or agreement to buy.

Agree he should be ahead of young. But when Coleman is back depending on what state he’s in he’s likely 3rd choice and missing vital minutes for learning in competitive football Dyche doesn’t trust him or think he’s good enough or surely he’d be starting him over young, overall I don’t think Patterson has done enough to convince him but not playing him his just hampering his development to the point I’m thinking is he even a long term option? I’ve never thought he was anyway but not getting minutes won’t tell us anything whether here or away on loan he needs to be playing.

It’s a dereliction of duty by Dyche to keep selecting young at rb ahead of this lad.

Im also hoping by the time the January window rolls around, we won’t be in a relegation threatened season as we’re comfortably mid table and well away from the bottom 3, and Patterson is part of a solid successful team - why loan out a promising young player if we are in that position?
