Sorry are you referring to me as a bigot here?

Can you point out a post in this thread that i made that refers to anything but football and the lads development.

Ive lived in both Glasgow and Belfast, lived through and seen things - that trust me would make you abhor violence, intolerance and bigotry, some of my best mates are Rangers and big NI fans, ive woken up in a Rangers bed spread in Bears Den and been happy for it! ;) Ive coached GAA and tried to grow the games in Unionist communities. ;)

To be honest the fact lads are pointing out the lad played on one half of a preconceived "perceived" divide would be considered bigoted in itself, if not why mention it or the assumption someone holds a certain view point because of their nationality.

So cut the faux bigotry BS, its weak.

I like the lad as a player and want him to develop, but the lad need games and to play week in and week out for that..
There’s a couple of posters with very obvious personal agendas against the boy, you’d have to be wilfully blind not to see that through the thread.

He’s just a young promising full back that isn’t the finished article. Done know what people are expecting.

People seeing potential aren’t saying he’s Cafu or that he’s nothing he can improve on and people saying he’s got learning to do aren’t saying he’s complete crap or being bigots.

I've followed Celtic all my life, been to Parkhead on numerous occasions. But Everton first always and delighted when we signed him. I've no doubt he will be a good player for us for a very long time. I just don't see the bigot posts you are referring too mate, but then again I've a few lads on mute and one in particular that probably slags the lad every chance he gets.

My advice is mute button is always the option.

I agree. I feel sorry for him.

We should be addressing that asap and making contact with clubs to take him and allow him to restart his career.

The lad is in limbo and I genuinely feel for him. But Everton are my concern and we need to finally address that RB position and not put more sticking plasters where we need a solid pro.

I think we signed him too early thinking that we were swooping in before anyone else spotted the next Andy Robertson or Keiran Tierney. It would've been far better for his development to let him pick up minutes in cup games and international friendlies than throw him in at the deep end. He might even have broken into the first team at Rangers by now.

When you factor in the average age (bar Tarkowski) it's quite promising.

They can all grow as players, that good for the team. (or the bank balance)

24 Mykolenko
21 Branthwaite
30 Tarkowski
22 Patterson

24.25 average age.

….so much want him to be effective. Thought he was ok yesterday but he got skinned much too easily a few times in the first half. Encouraging he stuck to his task and was more solid after that. I’m nervous when he’s defending, my litmus test is when that situation changes.

I suspect it’s the same for Dyche, be interesting who starts the next few games.

I posted similar but also remember Mitoma for Brighton? He looked amazing and carried on his form looking great vs Patterson for 15mins.

Then Patterson dominated him.

It could be Patterson has a flaw where he needs 15mins to get into games, or more likely he needs a run to get his confidence and match time up.

Paqueta got the better of him once , he's a quality player.

Antonio skins players much more established than Patterson every time he plays.

Mykolenko has been slated for ages despite stopping all the top right wingers. Patterson has 2 years on him.

Paqueta was a city target which shows his ability...

We have a habit (online at least) of hyper-criticism for our younger players until they start coming good (McNeil comes to mind).

Bizarre isnt it? These are the ones we should be behind.

I realise there is a binary - for or againt legacy to this thread and lads are entrenched.

Im looking at it from the points of view of the lads development and also the best interests of the club.

Hes not our best right back at all, objectively hes targeted in the team as a weak link and he has developmental needs in the art of defending and the full back position in general, we look more vulnerable with him in the team. Thats not a criticism as he hasnt played much senior football at Rangers or here - to be considered an experienced pro. Hes 22 now and he has never played football week in week out, (his peers in Onana, McNeill, Garner, Brathwaite are out progressing him and hes been here longer in the majority), how can he be anything else then what he is, still very inexperienced and needing games to develop.

Coleman and Young will retire and we all want Nathan to be the answer - we will look to him next season, hes clearly not going to be starting over Coleman and maybe even Young when fit.

The opportunity is now for him to get that experience and develop, its next season we will be relying on him and i think its not good for the lad sitting on the bench as injury cover to lads touching 40, when he is crying out for experience of games and defending week in week out and honing his craft. Its good for the lad and good for the club.

Look what it did for Branthwaite.

"Hes not our best right back at all"

I think he most clearly is.

Myko = Maldini
Branthwaite = Ramos
Tarkowski = Watson
Patterson = Cafu

Rangers were never dropping their captain for him.

Also hes had 2 or 3 injuries since signing which have really hampered him.

He just needs starts, confidence and a partnership with Tarkowski and Harrison will emerge just like Mykolenko-Branthwaite and McNeil on the left.

Rangers never properly develop any of their young talented players, they all end up going elsewhere for game time. He’d simply have gone somewhere else.
