...I seem to recall you liking him a few years ago @LinekersLegs ?
Yeah, watched him for the England youth teams and saw a couple of games where he was very good.

Think he got a bad injury - seem to recall him on crutches anyhow, perhaps that affected him or he just stalled his progression. The fact he hasn't featured much for the U23s is a bit of a tell, I trust Unsworth to spot a player that is likely to make it with us and those that won't.

Seemed like a nice kid in his interviews though, wish him luck.

He's an attacking midfielder, can play in the middle too. Regardless of Davies, the point still stands. The club weren't desperate for him to stay. Plus he's a Manc, he's got no massive affinity to Everton or Merseyside.

Had to laugh at this quote from him:

'I think [London Stadium] is the best stadium in the Premier League by far. If I could ever get myself out there, I think it would be a dream come true to be honest.'

Saying all the right BS things to suck up.

He's said that as it's perfect for an inconsistent player, only 10% of the crowd have the eyesight to be able to the see the game and no one close enough to get on your back. Dream for any player.

...yep, it can be a ruthless business for those on the fringes so good to see somebody taking a chance. I think he was penalty taker for England.

I wish him all the best but I'm not disappointed or fearful or anything.

Good for him for finding a club as it looked like his opportunities at Everton were going to be limited.

Think it's more telling a lot of us don't even know who this lad is haha

Good luck to the lad, hope he gets a decent career going, I just hope we aren't signing him back one day for 40 million

There was a few mentions of him last season and before as an England youth international...must be sad for those like him who then cant get games in the above age group despite getting youth caps.

It's actually quite a jump between u18 and u23.. many more players eligible plus we can keep our wonderkids around playing at that level for years..

So these kids find themselves up against Dowell etc. Even Brewster couldn't get game time.

Good luck to the lad and all that, but:
“I think London Stadium is the best stadium in the Premier League by far."

I hate the use of the word ''bigger'' ''smaller'' club

in what sense? richer? bigger stadium? bigger fanbase? more trophies? more players? sell more merchandise? its such a broad term used so wrongly

World Cup winners mate

On topic though: probably just a case of a young lad realising that for whatever reason he is not gonna make a league appearance for the club he's at now. Players get itchy feet around that age. It could be a word from the manager or the coaches, it could be his own style of play/position not fitting the club's new style/formation.
Good luck to him, at least he's found another top division club to move to - that's better than most do

His contract was up in the summer. The club hadn't offered him a new deal. He had several players ahead of him in the pecking order in his position, including Tom Davies. He's barely featured all season for the Under 23s.

Good luck to the lad, but it's pretty much the norm for people not always to make it at their first club.

Jags, Baines, even Joey Barton all came through our youth system and were released early on.

Maybe down the line this Holland kid may make it. Or maybe he won't. But if there's one thing the club is excellent at, is competently running the youth academy.

Or rather Smith and Hamper man got rid of all underage teams as crazy as that sounds there's days, it's not long ago.
