I think most of us have some fears about the coming season, and I admit I have that too.. but then I started thinking and here are my thoughts

Apart from Carsley, we haven't really lost anyone from our first 11, or even from our A-squad either apart from the loans of Manny and Wessels that ended. Gravesen was never really in contention for a startingslot and wasn't used much and Gardener had a similar experience here.

I'm not saying our squad is healthy.. we are dangerously thin and need numbers, but compared to the second half of last season we haven't lost much to be honest.

If we get 5-6 players in, which I for one is starting to doubt will happen, we will really have improved the size of the squad significantly.

If we get 3-4 players that can enter the first 11 and do a good job, then our squad will have improved as well with A-team players.

1-2 will leave the squad about the same size as before in terms of numbers and if they clinch a starting place in a fully fit squad.. we have improved in quality aswell.

If we sell AJ though add a number to these thoughts and they will be the same. I'm not saying I'd be happy with just 1-2 more signings, but it wouldn't be a step back if it were the right ones.

Im with you mate, a little perspective is needed, im wholly confident either by the blackburn game or the end of the window that our squad will be stronger!

1 thing is for sure, we wont be getting the 5-6 players Moyes said we NEED. We fell away last season, due to squad issues, i cant see this season being any different unless we get some players in.

Im not gonna depress every1 with my views, but if we dont sign somebody soon im gonna have to move into the samaritans.

It's a shame, but if we do pull in anyone in the next week or two, they're probably not going to be ready for Blackburn, which leaves us with the 'full strength' side we put out against the rapids... the side with Gosling and Young Jack in the middle of the park.

Don't get me wrong, I think they've both got a lot of potential, but I don't see them as starters in a competitive Prem game yet.

As it stands, we will need 4 new signings to be able to fill the bench

still, fingers crossed, eh?

I think with Gosling and Rodders is the middle was like two 'insert Premiership midfielder here' signs.

Two ball busting classy mids in those positions and we are cooking.

I agree mate. We have only signed Stevey P and the only real 1st team player we have lost so far is Carsley.
You look at how ovther clubs have faired aswell and a few clubs eg Blakcburn,Spurs have sold a lot of players to bring a few in.

If we can get in decent replacements for Carsley, Fernandes and Johnson - as I believe we will eventually - then we'll be in good shape. Obviously Moyes is also looking for a replacement for Wessels, but it needn't affect us too much if that gets put back to January.

The thing is, we've known exactly what we needed since the beginning of the summer, apart from Johnson leaving. We shouldn't still be having this conversation now.
