Looks like we were both right on besic, what we need now is another Besic brought in this summer.

You still think he will play centre mid 8 ?
Just to go without Injury now , Martinez will not slot him back in , because hes Martinez . He will play maybe after Chelsea. Him and Barkley close on sm ATM can be great and to Barkley drop on cm when we start possesion and play with him. We have great team , can t belive we are 11 on table

Its 3 positions

ACM - Barkley
CM - Besic
DM - McCarthy/ Barry

You could push Cleverley in to replace Barkley but still no quality player there to replace besic in CM if he got injured as we have seen this season.

Cleverley is more of a CM than a DM Zat.

As long as he's got a pacey player behind him he'd be fine in that role as he could bomb forward.

It's always better to have players who can be versatile in between those midfield roles. So, for example, as it stands (discounting Gibson)

- ACM - Barkley/Tarashaj(second striker mainly but we wouldn't line up with him and an attacking mid in the side)
- CM - Besic/Cleverley/Barkley(can play here)
- DM - Barry/McCarthy/Besic(can play here)

So, that's why I'm saying we concentrate first and foremost on a playmaker. Because of the investment, it means we should have the capability to go out and buy a £25mil player for that position - which is what the good ones cost.

Ideally that would be for our playmaker to play out wide left but kind of in the Pienaar role of old, though obviously adapted slightly.

However, if you're paying that much for a player the likelihood is - like Payet, for example - they'd be able to play behind the striker as a classic 'No.10' as well.

So, your options then look like:

- ACM - Barkley/(new signing)/Tarashaj
- CM - Besic/Cleverley/Barkley
- DM - Barry/McCarthy/Besic

That's why if we get out priority signing in (that No.10 - whoever that may be) first, and then concentrate on goalkeeper and right back and possibly a forward depending on how Niasse gets on, then we can concentrate on a CM.

You obviously have to go into a season planning for injuries but I think Besic is showing more than enough quality to be first choice alongside either McCarthy or Barry next season in that 'box-to-box' role. So, I wouldn't want us to be going out and spending big money on one if it prevents us from spending big money on the other areas we need most.

A midfield trio of mcCarthy, Besic and Barkley deserves a chance but I spy a problem.

They are midgets. No good in the air. That means that we need two tall centre halves and a full back
who can also be called upon to head balls and as a result the team maybe not so hot going forward. At the moment we do not have those players.

I don't think i've ever seen Barkley described as a 'midget'. The lads is 6'2...

And actually McCarthy is decent in the air as well. He won loads of headers the other day. The three times he wasn't in our area when W.Ham lumped crosses in, they scored...

Agree though our centre halves need to be stronger in the air.

We shouldnt have to move players out of position to accommodate others or in case of injuries.

Cleverley also in CM doesnt work as he starts nullifying Barkley. Hes better on the left.

If hes playing on the left and Besic for example gets injured then you would move him centrally so disrupts barkleys game and then put someone else at left mid? Then if McCarthy is out move besic back and then put cleverley or someone else at CM?

Too much moving people around and out of positions they are good in and settling into. All for the sake of signing one CM.

Yes but Zat versatility is key to any side. It's what 'squad players' are for. You can't have a squad of 25 internationals if you don't have Europe and for the majority of the season will only have one game per-week - injuries or not.

Cleverley is better on the left but is more than capable of playing CM in certain games. Maybe a game where Barkley doesn't play (so early rounds of a cup) or a game when he can be next to McCarthy so the defending isn't as much as an issue (see Carlisle away in January as an example of this).

The key to any squad is versatility. It's not square-pegs-round-holes either as they've all spent much of their careers playing there.

If we get Europe it's a different matter but at the moment there is no way we need 6 players who can play in central midfield. No way.

Barry
mccarthy
besic
gibson
osman
barkley

theres 6 international midfielders currently on oir books for 3 positions.

take out gibson and osman + sign someone and thats fine for me. You should note we have a big squad already and can substantially trim it down while still adding players to have 2 players for every position....

Bulgarian, Bosnian, Croatian, Serbian and many other Slav language have the same/similar words, in this case strast means passion in, I think, all of them, or at least most lol
If anyone is interested Yugoslavia had six republics and two provinces. Croatia, Bosnia, Monte Negro and Serbia are almost or is the same language. I could say to speak 5 language , they are so litlle diference, even people are more or less the same. Macedonia is hard to understand these four nations, Slovenia also has its own language .They always inclined to Austria and Germany. Tito of this mess made economic and military power, and although he was a dictator, people lived nicely and Yugoslavia. Now as for Football .Yugoslavia and most of the 4 Republic of Croatia, Bosnia Serbia and Montenegro are always produced masters of the ball , Macedonia and Slovenia less . Very rarely we had players like Mo Besic. It is a combination of talent and Yugoslav and Germany discipline and desire to work and win.Yugoslavia at end of 90is was only Euro country who had positive score with that superpower Brasil but we could never outrun Germans That is my opinion and a little information on Yugoslavia, which I loved and was proud of her. Now We are just slaves of capitalism as well as other countries.

But could you say 'Dzeko is an absolute donkey' in five subtly different ways?

That's pretty cool.

Exactly though Zat!

Two of those (rightly so) get little game time as it is!

So, take out Gibson and Osman.

Move over Cleverley as he can play in central midfield (it just depends on the system and who he has around him) and that becomes 5 players.

I'd say that's enough for us to at least first prioritise other areas, and then we can look to add in a player when that is done if needed.

Then whose playing on the left if cleverley is central (and out of position)
