Good appearance. Lots of encouraging signs. He's got fantastic distribution and an engine like McCarthy but he looks really inexperienced. I don't think we're going to see the best from him this season but maybe in one or two seasons from now.

Something we have been lacking though is distribution. Not many balls being sprayed across pitch these days by us, something we should be doing to get the ball out of our own half for the wingers to latch onto.

Yes, some of our most promising plays came from Besic switching the ball out Astu.

Encouraging signs last night but evidently also still very raw. I'm thinking this season will be like a bedding in period and RM will look to him to take over from Barry as first choice next season.

I thought he was average at best..

Which does make him one of our better players last night... fml...

The unknown. Just like Atsu on Sunday, people will cling to any positive in the hope that one of these lads turns out to be a world beater. Happens to most new signings to be fair.

I think the lad has a lot of work to do if he is to finish the season a first team starter. But that's to be expected given his age, and the difficulties with coming to a new league/Country like this one and trying to settle in. We'll probably see more from him in the second part of the season.

He put in a steady performance. Was not too wasteful in his distribution but needs a bit of shooting practise. Looks to me that with a few more games under his belt he will be a benefit to us. Atsu on the other hand looks lightweight and not a clever player. He could be useful as a late sub in games. Garbutt started well but faded and started to struggle in my eyes towards the last 30 mins. Gibson tried and worked hard but lack of movement ahead of him did not help.

Atsu will be a good option as an impact sub, but needs to sharpen up a bit to be battling to be a consistent starter.
