It's not defending him. It's just that back heeling it to nobody but pyar space, right into their strikers path to put him clean through, with your first touch on your debut. Well it just doesn't get anymore embarrassing for the lad than that. Frankly, he'll feel like a total bell.
It was so bad that berating him seems pointless to me, he'll know he's made a right shank of himself in front of a packed Goodison, so much so that he won't be trying that again.

Lukaku has attracted alot of criticism on here. I can't agree with all of it. I thought many of his touches were well controlled and some of his short lay offs were perfectly weighted. i also think he's suffering from what I can only presume is a coaching instruction for our FBs and wingers to pull the ball back to the edge of the penalty area when on the bye line rather than chipping to the far post. There have been a number of instances so far this season where Lukaku has taken up the perfect CF position in anticipation of a cross into the 6 yd box but has seen the ball played right back to the edge of the area.

were too slow getting the ball forward at times, Lukaku is making the run on the last man only to see the ball going side ways or back. How many goals did the red [Poor language removed] score last season with 3 passes as we seem to need 15 to 20 to get to the edge of the box. We are missing Barkley so much but not as much as LUkaku at present.

I could not understand the idea of the substitution of using Besic in the 88th minute 5-3 down?

Martinez started off using Stones in the last 5 minutes or so early last season so it's not really any different to that. The game was lost anyway so he was just giving him some minutes in front of a big Goodison crowd.
