He is very similar to McCarthy. Both very comfortable on the ball. Keep it well under pressure. Good short passing game. However neither have that much range. They both lack the range of Gibson, Barry and Barkley. It doesn't mean they aren't good on ball though. I just think they might be too similar to be a great combination.

It may (or may not) be worth noting that McCarthy and McArthur were very, very similar while pairing together at Wigan. Statistically, they were twins. Perhaps Martinez is comfortable with that kind of duo.

McCarthy the moderately snide all-action type
Besic will have 'super snide' written where the Chang logo would usually be and openly be performing all matter of violent snideyness
