We've needed real bite in the middle for years, since Carsley left. Possibly Olly Dacourt type, in which case he's going to pick loads of yellows up.

You can't expect Barry and McCarthy to play that many games without injury or suspension. And although some think Barkley could play the deep lying midfielder, I want his arse going forward as close to goal as possible.

Was thinking about this the other day after Garbutt looked good against Tranmere. Potentially we have 3 LBs now...could we see Martinez start to experiment with Baines in Central MF as he hinted last year?

That's desire right there. I would be concerned about reports of his volatile character, but if any man can win him over with a mix of authority and easy charm, it's Dragontamer Martinez.

Put him in against the RS at Anfield, and let him make those tackles. Sure he may get red, but maybe he'll accidentally destroy Sturridge.

I'm just not convinced...I generally don't fear change, but I'm just not certain he'd fit the role.
