We would need 8 midfielders to get injured before we needed to call on him.

Them gaps allow us to sign free agents. Just an example but say both Digne and Nkounkou got injured we could bring Baines out of retirement on short term contract. That is just a scenario I wouldn't expect it to actually happen.

Exactly, look at branthwaite, we signed him originally for the u23s and then all of a sudden he's needed in the first team. Never know, they might get moise kean back. Pointless filling up slots for the sake of it.

As I said it was just an example. Besic and Bolasie play positions where we have plenty of cover if DCL picked up an injury we could get a free agent striker.

Sends a message to any player wanting to sit around and collect wages. Keeps the group smaller and more closely knit. Lessens the workload on coaching staff.

Must be tough for Besic and Bolaise but for the good of the club I think it's for the best.

Ok so say you do that - you think his next contract will be worth anywhere even close to that? Putting yourself in the window and staying match fit should be the priority when you know you’re not getting a sniff.

£40k a week, whose the stupid on? He’l probably join a team and get paid £10k a week next so why not see out his expensive contract. I actually thought he was good when he first joined, I liked the no nonsense and fight he had, kinda thinking he’s probably lost that now.
