Moyes had a first season slump too.

Remit was to save them from relegation wasn't it? No pre season, no summer transfer window, best players already sold, at a points disadvantage and morale low. Finished midtable. How is this a slump? That's a decent turn around in anyone's books.

Hes got a problem with Vela and also he's only had one season and they may have been up there doing well but not when he was appointed.

Ex-Everton boss David Moyes is seeing his popularity plummet in Spain.

The Scot is struggling with Real Sociedad, who sit just outside the relegation zone and Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo have printed his “seven deadly sins”.

Here goes:

1: “I want to build a team that fights for a European spot in 15/16”. Sociedad currently above relegation zone on goal difference.

2: “My philosophy is to win. If it’s in style, great. If not, it’s still great”. Sociedad have only won one out of their 8 league matches played.

3: “I want to immerse myself and plan on speaking the language quickly”. 11 months in, he barely speaks Spanish and he’s struggling to communicate with his players.

4: “There will be changes in Zubieta (training ground). Training is my strong point”. MD says that people who have seen his sessions call them ‘antiquated’.

5: “My ideal is to play attacking football and for people to be inspired”. 8 league games played, 6 goals scored, 9 goals conceded.

6: “We need to fight with Sevilla, Valencia, Athletic, Atletico Madrid and Villarreal.” All are above Sociedad in the table. Villareal and Atletico Madrid are 10 points higher than Real Sociedad, Valencia 6 points higher, Sevilla 3 points higher.

7: “Hervías, Oyarzun, and Capilla will be in the first team.” Hervías got loaned to Real Ovieda, Oyarzun has played 44 minutes in the cup, and Capillahas played just 11 minutes in La Liga.

My point is that he's much better at surviving than thriving.

I said long ago that he will never do anything at the top. He's out of his depth when expectation levels are high.

But probably about 80% of his managerial career he's been around the top end of the table, albeit with a very inferior budget to his rivals.
