Moyes Watch @ Real Sociedad

Where he messed up United was that he tried to go in and change everything in one go, getting rid of the backroom staff etc.
That was a massive mistake yeah, but even if he hadn't i personally think his style and philosophy was always going to fail with the likes of fernanand/giggs etc there. They ruled the dressing room away from ferguson and Van gaal made sure they all left the club quite sharp after he joined.

Moyes was a good manager, not a great one, but a good one, he gave us some dignity back after the torrid time we had been through, so obviously he deserves a lot credit for that, don't forget though, we made him one of the highest paid managers in Europe to do that job.

Saying all that though, I'm not going to lie, but I had a huge grin on my face hearing he'd been sacked.
He has officially then?

Swansea have hired Rodgers (completely washed up), Laudrup (completely unproven), and Monk (no experience, an ex player). I doubt their chairman would think it preposterous to appoint a manager who knows the league inside out.

Moyes to Swansea would be unthinkable, imo

Martinez set up a brand of football there that all others have come through and adopted with varying degrees of success. To go for a manager like Moyes - utterly lacking in any qualities for that particular brand of football - would be like tearing up the master plan and starting again from scratch.

Moyes would have been ok for Sunderland: a club that accepts no frills football as long as the results are keeping the ship steady.

I think his problem was he didn't change enough. Van Gaal changed everything, Moyes had his hands largely tied. Doesn't mean he's have been a success but he would have done better without a host of ex United players, the media and I suspect people at the club saying 'you have to play a certain formation, you have to use these youth players, these certain players have to play, you need to play a certain style'. Van Gaal got a blank cheque book, could play how he wanted and sold off half the squad including youth players.

If you pick a manager you should expect to play the way he wants to play and back him in the market to deliver that over the course of three seasons.

If United wanted a manager to play 442 then why did they hire David Moyes who has always gone 4142 or 4231. When he actually grew a pair and played his formation his results actually got a bit better. They've learned their lesson this time round and Van Gaal is playing an ultra defensive 433 as un United as you can get.

Subjective opinion on football style will not matter one jot against the economic reality of missing out on the TV deal.

Once again, why hire a manager if you're not going to give him time? They were in the relegation zone and had sold all their best players. What did they expect? The sad truth is that at any other club Martinez would have been fired last season as well. Moyes may well have been fired in 2003/4. You have to give them at least 3 seasons in my view. Firing managers after months, especially when you're coming from a backdrop of relegation is absurd.

Thing is, the backdrop of relegation was an exception to their rule in recent seasons. They finished 4th as recently as 2013.

Then factor in the record club amount in transfer fees in the summer.

After that - you'd expect they'd need to see a glimmer of something.

From what I've read/seen - the manner of the defeats and his persona have all but sealed his fate. Dour Davey.

All arguments could easily be applied to our current manager. Why would 8th be seen as a success when recently we've been top 6 and we've smashed our transfer record? Or you could say for Mourinho, why is he under pressure when Chelsea have recently not been a title winning side?

Sociedad were 4th then sold all their best players. A succession of managers then had them looking at relegation so Moyes was brought in. He may have underperformed but I don't see the point in sacking a manager after not even one full season because you came fourth not that long ago.

Personally think he should transition into being a director of football who oversees the transfer dealings and the building up of a good youth academy. He was excellent at both of these for us, his weaknesses were more in how he used those players (both senior and junior) and his media work.

Would be far less stressful and he often seeemed happiest travelling around scouting players.

Lets have it right though we are one of the only clubs in all the big domestic leagues that give managers time, we're a break from the norm like that. Pretty much everywhere else you arent afforded that, so its their perogegetive whether to sack him or not.

His so so performances were excused last year because he'd just come in and was saying he needed a preseason etc, this year results have continued to be bad and apparently the football is utterly atrosius, if there's absolutely no sign of things getting better then there's no wonder theyre gonna give him the push

fascinating word

is it some kind of vegetable that you do rude things with ?
