2012 Mirallas, Oviedo, Stones, Kennedy, Hitzlsperger, Naismith
2002 He made a loss of over £11m with Wright (£4.8m) being his major acquisition. Carsley and Yobo were key signings.
2003 He made a loss of about £8m mostly down to Yobo's deal being made permanent. Martyn was a £700k bargain.
2004 Rooney, Gravesen and Radzinski departed for a £29.5m net profit. Cahill, Arteta and Bent were shrewd signings.
2005 He made a loss of almost £22.5m on players including Van der Meyde (£7.9m), Krodrup (£5.9m), Davies and Neville.
2006 A loss of more than £17m due to Johnson, Lescott and Howard coming in.
2007 Another loss (nearly £15.5m). Yakubu became our record signing and was joined by Jagielka, Baines and Pienaar.
2008 Fellaini's acquisition formed part of a £10.3m loss. Coleman came in for a bargain £60k.
2009 Despite signing Bily, Heitinga and Distin we made a profit of £4.4m because of the sale of Lescott.
2010 A profit of £4.3m but we lost Pienaar and Yakubu cheaply.
2011 The sales of Arteta and Bily meant we made a profit of £17.2m. Jelavic came in.
2012 We lost £2.2m after using the funds from Rodwell's sale to buy Mirallas and Pienaar.
Very often when he has had money to spend he has bought pretty badly: Wright (£4.8m), Beattie (£7.9m), Van der Meyde (£7.9m), Kroldrup (£5.9m), Davies (£4.6m), Johnson (£9.6m), Yakubu (£14.5m), Bily (£8.8m), Heitinga (£5.9m). I think that he expects instant results when he splashes the cash and, if it doesn't happen immediately, he bombs them out within a year or two.
He seems to have a thing for immobile centrebacks (Senderos, Gardner, Neill) and random goalkeepers (Wright, Baardsen, Nash, Mucha, Hahnemann, Wessells, Westerveldt).
His experiments with youth have been largely unsuccessful too: Ruddy, Spencer, Mustafi, Jutkiewicz, Gosling, Turner, Gueye.
And he's made some very left-field signings: Rodrigo, Said, Silva, Straq.
Besides the players who came through the youth system and Fellaini I think we only made a profit on the following Moyes signings: Bent (£2.1m), Kilbane (£1.1m), McFadden (£5.1m), Johnson (£2.1m), Lescott (£18.5m), Neill (£730k), Ruddy (£200k), Arteta (£8.1m) and Beckford (£2.9m). I make that £40.8m profit. The losses we made on Yakubu, Van der Meyde, Wright and Kroldrup would wipe out three quarters of that though.
