Moyes said, no more money. How correct is that?

Chelsea spending a lot of money is a media myth and has been for years. Roman is serious about getting the club to be run properly as a business. Over the last 5 years they have only spent net £11.4Ms. Thats around £2.2M a year. Not much for title winners. Liverpool, Tottenham, Man Utd and apparently Aston Villa have to sell to buy. The only two teams who can buy without having to sell are Arsenal and Man City because Arsenal are an amazingly well run business and Man City have the owners who will spend whatever they want. Everton arent is that bad a position.

citys strategy is controvercial, but im sure city fans are just enjoying and laughing to others. i wouldnt sell everton to towelheads, though. it is like selling your soul to the devil. (city fans surely disagree)

what will moyes do if we get 15£???????? from pienaar??????????????????

This is a controversial opinion, but Moyes spent 'a lot' of the clubs money last season after selling Lescott, and didn't spend it very well.

The only player that was a decent buy was Heitinga. Distin, although a decent defender, is going to need to be replaced again soon, and Bilyaletdinov was disappointing.

We didn't get the max from our money, so I doubt Moyes will be given another lump sum anytime soon. He'll be told to make good on the £15 million he invested in Distin and Bilyaletdinov.

If Bilyaletdinov comes good, and we all hope he does, we've still got to bolster our defence as we have a very young duffy, an out of form Jagielka, an unhappy Yobo, an old Distin, and a mentally scarred Heitinga. Add to that a left back position with no cover other than said Distin, and a right back position that is undecided.

We still have no wingers, other than makeshift wingers, and our 2 most creative players are undecided about their future.

Saha, Distin, and Neville are all running down the clock, so we need to get our ship in order very quickly.

I disagree that we don't need to spend money. I just hope we don't have to sell a major player to find it, but really can't see the board funding Moyes this season.

supsisingly pessimistic opinion, but in a ways true....i am starting to think that we loose arteta or pienaar...

is our defence really so shitty???? i dont think so...

That was a bit over the top of negativeness. Out of the money that Moyes spent last summer I think it will be seen to be well spent come the end of next season. Just look at Fellaini. Many said Moyes had lost his touch spending £15M on him and now most see WHY Moyes did it. When Bilyaletdinov does better next season you will no longer doubt Moyes even though you shouldnt now after all he has done. Heitinga for £6.2M rising to £7M was a great deal and im sure the £8.9M spent on Bilyaletdinov will be seen as a bargain soon enough. However I do agree Distin wasnt a good signing. I think he was seen as a stop gap till we either got a better replacement or one of the kids were old enough. He will probably still be here next season as 3rd choice CB.

Jagielka come back from an injury. He was never going to be the same player straight away but he was still doing well. He will have had a rest now and got into shape through pre-season so I think him and Heitinga will be able to build a good partnership come the start of the season. Nothing will be wrong with Heitinga. Im sure losing the world cup final will have been made less painful by getting married. Yobo may or may not be happy. No one really knows. If he wants to go then we can easily replace him with the money we would get and if not we have a great defender for another season. Distin is average but he is only backup so thats nothing to worry about. Also Neville can play LB if needed. Thats were he played for England so he must be still able to play there. Distin as well if needed. I dont think Neville will play much this season and either Hibbert or Coleman will be first choice RB. Also I think Hibbert is vastly over rated. With a better RW/RM infront of him we could see him in a whole new light. With Coleman he is exciting so I wouldnt want us to sign a new RB as it might slow his growth into a first team regular down.

Also the winger situation isnt all that. We dont play much football in the air. When we had Donovan and Pienaar playing last season our main strength was them coming inside. Im sure Pienaar and Anichebe will be able to do that well this season. If we dont have the money to sign an out and out winger then thats not really a problem. Its pace what we need and Anichebe/Gueye can give us that. Also its the papers who make you believe the players are undecided. Arteta has said he wants to retire at Everton this year. He would have known of his childs problems when this happened so im not concerned about that. As for Pienaar he has never said he wants a move and looks set to sign a new contract some papers would have you believe. Our better players will always be linked with moves away whilst we dont have CL football.

Saha will probably be finished after this season but he was only a free transfer so it was a great deal for the club. One of our young strikers could come through and replace him or even Beckford if he does come good. In my opinion Saha is our second best striker behind Yakubu. So id be more worried about losing him. Distin will probably go next season for a small fee but we will have Duffy as backup then with either Yobo or whoever his replacement is. As for Neville his replacements are Coleman and Rodwell. Not bad if you ask me.

I like your positive post. I don't look at my posts as optimistic, or pessimistic, but more of a 'how I see it' post. I take each game as it comes, but I'm tired of Moyes making the same mistakes, and expect him to learn by now from them. The biggest mistakes for me, have been his inability to protect the team from controversy, for 2 years running now, and this season, we are experiencing it for the third time already, with Gosling. That was piss poor for me, and Moyes, and indeed the board need a good kicking over it.

Fellaini, in his first year, scored 9 goals, and won more man of the match awards on Toffeetalk than any other player, despite Jags getting Player Of the Year. He also won the Young Player Of The Year award, so I don't know why fans think he had a bad season. He didn't. He also played carrying an injury, and was ill the start of last.

Bilyaletdinov on the other hand had about 2 good games and the rest were poor. Even if we get 4 good years, we still lost a year on the guy, even if he did get a few goals. You can't even begin to compare his season with Fellaini's.

As for next year, I'm rather chirpy. I always am preseason, but I never wear blue tinted glasses, and never will. All I want is a fit team, no controversy with contracts, and Moyes to have done his homework and know where everyone needs to play, which is another weakness in Moyes, in that he doesn't seem to know where players play best.
