Moyes said, no more money. How correct is that?

I'd expect that the sales of Jutkiewicz and Ruddy roughly covered what we paid for Gueye and Silva. It's concerning that we've pulled our funding for Everton Tigers, as it suggests we need to make urgent cutbacks.

If Pienaar is not going to sign a new contract then we need to sacrifice him. We're in no position to allow £15m of talent to walk out the door for nothing next summer. I would presume that we're waiting for him to return to the club to resolve the situation and for the transfer merry go round to get into full swing.

I don't think that Donovan will be available to us as a permanent signing due to the MLS's desire to retain their golden boy and the lure of someone like City if they did make him available. For the reported £8m though, we'd have a happy player on a long contract and a much needed £7m in the bank if we were able to offload Peanuts and bring in Landon.

Unless Man City are buying, I'm not sure who'd pay £15m for Pienaar when he's entering his final year of contract. Everton are in a real bind here. They should have wrapped up a contract extension with the player a year ago. The way things are looking, the club dont know whether to [Poor language removed] or get off the pot on this, due, in part, to the indecision over Arteta's contract.

why ?

maybe we....
  • just cba with basketball
  • feel that now we have got them on their feet our work is done
  • are in fact (although pulling 5k crowds) preventing them from kicking on due to isolating them from r/s

I'm not sure Landon is the ideal replacement for Pienaar. Pienaar keeps hold of the ball and lets our team break. Landon is more direct. If Pienaar was to go we would need to replace him with someone of a similar mold. Personally I would rather keep Steven than sign Donovan. Ideally I would like them both. Whether its possible to keep Pienaar is another question. What he offers is alot different to any other player we have and losing him would have a huge effect on our fluency. With Mikel and Pienaar in the midfield we are always going to be dangerous.

£15m was the figure bandied about by the press earlier in the summer. There must be a tipping point at which Kenwright would be prepared to sell him. I guess it's probably nearer half that. It would seem that Pienaar is financially motivated. If we're unable to offer him what he wants then we need to get the best price for him. He was excellent last season, but his form this term could be as indifferent as it was during the World Cup. Remember that Saha was on fire when he was playing for a new contract. As soon as the ink was dry his performances dramatically nosedived. So, paying over the odds to retain the South African might not prove to be the best option. Anichebe, Gueye and Bily offer us viable alternatives on the left flank, should we need to replace him.

I'm sure that Arteta and Pienaar are watching each other's situation. Hopefully, if we can persuade one to stay, the other will follow.

There could well be other reasons why we've pulled our funding of the Tigers. From what their Chief Executive has said though it appears to have been a sudden move rather than one that had been strategically planned. I think he's making the best of a bad situation by saying that they can now appeal to the whole of the city. If he had serious funding alternatives already in place, why would he make an appeal for interested parties to get in touch.

Personally, I would have moved Distin on quickly while we were still able to recoup some of the £5m we paid for him and kept Senderos. His age goes against him. We'd probably be lucky to get £2m for him now.

On the plus side, it seems like we're keeping a tight check on our finances. I'd much rather be in the position of someone like Stoke, who have no debt and are able to punch above their weight with clever management, than the lot across the park, who have found themselves in a deep hole. They may have to sell off the family jewels and still have nothing to show for it.

Personally I don't think we need to sell Distin. It wasn't a big money move in todays climate and at the time it was an ideal replacement for Lescott who was bound for City. I think we can get a couple of solid seasons out of him. I personally think he is prone to a mistake or 2, but would never dream of selling him for 2m or so.

I'm just thinking of who we'd be prepared to let go to raise funds. There isn't a lot really. Maybe Turner, Yobo, Hibbert, Osman, Yakubu and Vaughan. I personally like Yobo and think he makes a more solid partnership with Jags than Distin does. Hibbo is becoming an important utility player. Ossie will probably cover on the right hand side more often than not. He may find his chances limited this year though. I wouldn't particularly want to lose either Yakubu or Vaughan, but if they can't force their way into the side and we're offered decent money to strengthen in other areas, I think our position dictates that we'd have to go for it. It was the same when we sold Neill.

Agree with the fact that we need no money. The foundations were laid back in 2002 when moyesy took over and now it's time to build on that.

Wenger can't make a team like Moyes has.

Here is my only problem:

The media as we have seen have started to display manchester city as if they rule the league. The obvious reason,we all know

Even spurs(**** them, I hate them more than city) are all over media. Yes they finished four and deserve some credit this time but the media has been over them for more than a year.

Few days back the same media were asking Hatchet "Harry" if he was interested in Raul? They give them so much importance!

This pisses me off and with our situation where everybody knows that we do not have money, have the greatest odds of not having money anytime of the year makes us extremely unattractive for the footballing world. Then we have to deal with the reality that arteta would want to play for spain, champions league. As will pienaar.

It's high time we do something special in the coming few season or two. It's easy to post this right now but It's bloody possible with everton. You never know what this team does, when it does, how it does!

Get in lads! Money........my ass!
