Moyes: No EFC contract talks until after end of January

Maybe Moyes has figured that he doesn't have the interest in another rebuilding project. If we don't end up in the top four then Baines and Felli already sent their signals, alos Neville, Distin and Howard are seemingly ending their careers, so either we spend some cash with an aim to make the top four or it all goes tits up and we find a new manager who wants to start all over next year. Not sure I feel bad about either prospect.
there is an argument if Moyes can't make it work with this squad then when can he? i am not sure who we would add in January that would make THAT difference...?

Can't think of too many British managers who go abroad. In my opinion he has done a great job but can't see too many foreign fans happy with "we appointed him because he finished 5th and 6th a few times".

I'm not suggesting real madrid but getafe have been interested in him as an example. There are teams who would be quite happy to finish upper to mid table on a balanced budget and Moyes might well think that it's easier to finish in the CL places and win cups in germany, france, spain or italy then it is in england due to the relative financial strength of the big 4.

McClaren, Hodgson, Houghton, Baxter, Souness, Robson, Vennables etc have all gone abroad with varying degress of success. It's naive to think that there are no other clubs in the world that he'd want to manage.

I'm pretty confident that moyes was chatting to other managers (certainly one ) about the possibility of managing abroad prior to Christmas last year although the fairly succesful window may have changed that idea at least short term. Ive said it a few times I think moyes has at least looked into and I wouldn't be surprised to see him try it if he left us at the end of the season.

Slightly off topic but the change I'd like to see in the management team is a new assistant. Not that Round or Irvine haven't done well, I like them both, but they're very similar to Moyes. I'd love to see us get a young, hungry continental assistant. Someone with very different ideas and styles. Moyes used to go all over Europe watching how teams like Inter and Barca train so he's obviously not against that style, and getting a European coach looking for management experience would be great for us. I'd love us to have a strong coaching influence with a European style, and mixed with Moyes' style I'm sure they'd move us forward.

I dont think this lot are anywhere near the level of the 2009 first team plus a three or four that reached the Cup Final. If he dismantled that to stay on he wont be bothered with having to face the prospect of breaking up this squad.

Not sure how this would work - doesn't seem like Moyes gets on with people who disagree with him too well...

I wish Green would just find £15m a year from down the back of the sofa and give it to Moyes. It would take that much to make us challenge for the 4th spot every season.

Just for perspective, Green's Arcadia retail group posted a pre-tax profit of £167m this year alone. His net worth is over £3bn, or 3,000 million....

Sheeds, another sensible post as ever. I can see him taking Pointing Phil with him to his next job.

Can't believe you've changed your wording so I can't make a joke.
