I wouldn't say that we didn't have the squad to cover either in truth just that the wrong players were used. We won't agree.

Im sure David Moyes feels hes failed.

I said after the United game, if we kept our first 11 injury free and in form we would win the League. Sadly we couldnt.

Anyone who thinks finishing 6th with this squad is in any way a failure needs help.

Everyone wishes we won more games, but the thing that separates us from Spurs, Chelsea, Arsenal is great players. We don't have a Bale, or a Mata or Carzola, we don't have any players who can win a game with a moment of sheer brilliance (maybe Baines and Mirallas could at a push).

Let's put this into perspective, with two games to go we're 7 points away from 4th... 7 points. And that's without a decent and consistent striker and a great player like Bale/Mata etc.

Have we failed in the cups? Yep, but that's as much the players fault as Moyes'.

If he was choosing Neville ahead of a great player I'd have some sympathy, but he wasn't.

Neville wasnt as bad as people make out.

Clearly this YEAR he was found lacking, but the first half of the season he did a job and helped Coleman settle into his new postion.

Plus he did a Captains job off the pitch.

Agree, he did a decent job in midfield of winning the ball and keeping possession, especially when Gibson was injured.

Coming into the last month or so we knew that to stay in contention for a European place of any description we had to win at least one of the massive 4 away games facing us, at Arsenal, Spurs, Anfield and Chelsea. With one to go (now a dead rubber anyway) we've failed. And really apart from one half against Spurs, we haven't even had a go at taking all 3 points.

Initially Moyes had improved his approach this season, but as the finishing line came into view he has increasingly returned to type, becoming more risk-averse, more and more conservative. A leopard doesn't change its spots I suppose.

Hats off to the man for doing well on a small net budget. And for bringing some good players to the club. But once again, when it really mattered he has failed the test. Which is why of course no 'top' (whatever that means) club would consider him, and why he'll still be here this time next year. The 'big' clubs want managers who win the big games. Moyes doesn't.

We haven't played Chelsea yet mate, but yeah, the Spurs game was a massive throwaway for us, looking at the Arsenal and Liverpool game we should have took 3 points at Anfield if it wasn't for a stupid referee decision and I'd say the Arsenal game was a good point tbf.

But lets not forget the games in October/November that we threw away by being sloppy, we'll look back at the end of the season to see what went wrong, and that was it.

The spurs game was not a massive throwaway, it was almost a tactical masterpiece IMHO. We absorbed and absorbed and hit them on the counter with Vic holding it up and bringing runners on to the ball. We looked like we would hold them out, but it was not to be. It was unfortunate and not entirely Moyes' fault.
