Moyes and Strikers

I think it's a combination of Fellaini playing behind him, defenders knowing more about him and marking him tighter and poor form.

He looked much better vs Chelsea.

I'm pretty confident he'll come good again this season and finish on around 15 goals.

Agree with some of this except for the 15goals bit.

He's on 6 at the moment so it would require him to produce a better haul than he has done in the first half of the season. Maybe he won't quite reach 15 goals but by the end of the season I reckon he will have produced enough good performances for us not to be so worried any more.

This Jelavic stuff does my head in.

Yeah hes not scoring as many as he did, it would be very hard to keep that pace up regardless, but hes playing well, making a nuisance of himself and has been unlucky a couple of times. Its not always just about goals his overall play has been fine and the goals will come again.

We've had an awful lot of strikers under Moyes, especially considering that we usually play with 1 up top, let's jog my memory.

Joe Max Moore (??)
Brian McBride
Duncan Ferguson
Tomas Radzinski
Kevin Campbell
Francis Jeffers
Nick Chadwick
Marcus Bent
James Beattie
Wayne Rooney
Andy Johnson
Yakubu
Louis Saha
Jo
Jermaine Beckford
Victor Anichebe
James Vaughan
Denis Straqualursi
Niki Jelavic
Apostolos Vellios
James McFadden

Clearly his weak spot, as most of them have underwhelming strike rates to say the least.

There are not many teams with prolific strikers that play up front on their own. Moyes tends to use them more as an outlet to hold up play for the goal scoring midfielders to arrive or to get on the end of crosses from Baines/Pienaar.

Wouldn't worry about him being on 6 prem goals... half way through the season that would see him on 12 if he continues...
That actually makes him our joint 3rd best striker since the 1995-1996 season.

Lets be realistic here for a minute. It's very likely that his form last season was higher than his norm, and his form this season is perhaps a bit below his norm.

We're in a good spot in the league and hopefully our usual post-January burst will see us good. Lets forget all this nonsense about players being ruined.

As has been said, the margins between success and failure are very small. How many times has he hit the woodwork this season?

To be fair, you do tend to get what you pay for with strikers. Not many on that list have been prolific elsewhere.
